Garmin's ecoRoute HD system helps you find the most "Earth-friendly" route to your destination. The ecoRoute feature found in most Garmin navigators already allows you to track fuel usage and gas mileage, displaying estimated fuel economy, carbon footprint, and fuel prices for each trip. Garmin's ecoRoute HD actually connects your nüvi navigator to your vehicle, giving you an exact account of fuel consumption, engine status, and other data.

Easy to install and use
The ecoRoute HD plugs directly into your car's OBDII port, usually found below the driver's side dashboard, to access a large amount of real-time info about your vehicle's performance. It's the same data that professional mechanics use when performing routine maintenance. The ecoRoute HD relays the information via wireless Bluetooth® connection to your nüvi, which then displays your vehicle's performance on easy-to-follow gauges and charts. The Bluetooth connection with the ecoRoute HD does not affect your nüvi's ability to make or receive calls with your compatible cell phone.

By measuring your engine's performance and fuel consumption over time, you'll find the areas where you're driving less efficiently along your commute. You can use this data to choose more Earth-friendly routes around town — not only will you help the environment, but you'll save some money as well. You can also use the ecoRoute HD as a trip computer on long treks — it'll give you real-time updates on your journey's progress, including average speed and fuel use.

The ecoRoute HD also tracks intake air temperature, throttle position, emissions, battery charging status, and other vital engine performance parameters. You can keep tabs on your engine to make sure it's performing at peak efficiency, plus make adjustments or take it in for maintenance when needed.

Overview: The Garmin ecoRoute HD transforms your compatible Garmin nuvi series GPS device into a real-time diagnostic computer for your vehicle. The Garmin ecoRoute HD sends engine and emissions data from your vehicle's diagnostic system to your compatible Garmin nuvi series navigation device and accurately calculates your fuel consumption, carbon footprint, engine performance, and more. Plus, ecoRoute reads and displays OBD II diagnostic trouble codes and allows you to reset the check engine light.

Diagnostic Check: With ecoRoute HD, you not only save fuel, but its vehicle diagnosing capabilities can also save a trip to the mechanic. After completing a simple setup, you can use the ecoRoute HD and your compatible nuvi series GPS device to run diagnostic testing on your vehicle's computer system, such as the battery and drive train. You can also monitor engine data, including temperature and emissions. In addition, You will receive diagnostic trouble codes and be able to reset your check engine light.

OBD II Connection: The ecoRoute HD module connects to your vehicle's OBD II (On-Board Diagnostics) connector. The ecoRoute HD module then records vehicle data and wirelessly (via 2.4Ghz) sends the data (up to 33') to your compatible Garmin GPS device.

Note: When the ecoRoute HD module is not wirelessly connected with your Garmin GPS device, the ecoRoute HD module records the vehicle information and sends the data to your Garmin GPS device the next time they wirelessly connect.

Compatible Garmin GPS Devices: The Garmin ecoRoute HD is compatible with the following Bluetooth enabled Garmin nuvi series GPS devices - 1260, 1370, 1390, 1490, & 1690, as well as the Garmin nuLink 1695.

Note: Before installing the ecoRoute HD module, you must update your Garmin GPS device's software.

LED Status: The two LEDs (green & blue) on top of the ecoRoute HD module indicate the connection status.
