Joe Chandler from Brunswick, Georgia still doesn't know who the next president is
He went to bed on the eve of November 8 planning to find out who won the election in the morning.
But ten days on, Joe Chandler from Brunswick, Georgia still doesn't know who the next president is.
The artist works from home drawing calendars and is careful to avoid social media, news websites and TV.
'I'm still living in a bubble of blissful ignorance', he told Fox News.
On the rare occasion that he does leave the house, he wears headphones and a sign around his neck reading: 'I don't know who won and don't want to. Please don't tell me.'
He explained how he made the decision not to find out at an election party: 'I was invited to an election party to stay up into the night with everybody gnawing their nails, hanging on and I thought, "oh there has to be a better way".'
His adult daughter Emily sends him edited versions of the news so he can keep up to date with the world while avoiding finding out the result.
'Having subtracted myself from this political fracas and all of the mayhem of the digital media, I kind of found the center of the cyclone, it is very peaceful in my bubble of ignorance,' he said.
Mr Chandler claims he's not a huge fan of either Trump or Clinton but thinks he'll be ready to find out who won next week.
Mr Chandler's friend Phil posted on Facebook on his behalf. In the message, Joe said: 'I never really intended this cavalcade, I simply elected not to turn on the TV last Wednesday morning. And then again Thursday. And Friday.
'I think things kinda got crazy when people started calling me the only person in America who still doesn’t know who the President-elect is. Which is probably the case, save for one or two people still deep in a cave somewhere.'
