The influential hip-hop group the Fugees announced Tuesday it will reunite for the 25th anniversary of their classic album “The Score” with a brief tour that plays the Forum in Inglewood in November.

The 1996 album “The Score” was the second and final album by the group that included Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel.

“The Fugees have a complex but impactful history,” Hill said in a written statement. “I wasn’t even aware the 25th anniversary had arrived until someone brought it to my attention.

“I decided to honor this significant project, its anniversary, and the fans who appreciated the music by creating a peaceful platform where we could unite, perform the music we loved, and set an example of reconciliation for the world,” she said.

“As I celebrate 25 years with the Fugees, my first memory was that we vowed, from the gate, we would not just do music we would be a movement,” Jean said in a written statement. “We would be a voice for the un-heard, and in these challenging times, I am grateful once again, that God has brought us together.”

The 12-city tour begins in New York City on Wednesday, Sept. 22 before taking a break before resuming in November with shows that include the Forum on Nov. 12. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24.

It was both a critical and commercial success, becoming one of the best-selling hip-hop albums ever and winning Grammy Awards for best rap album and best R&B vocal performance by a duo or group for the single “Killing Me Softly,” the group’s hit cover of the Roberta Flack classic.

Other songs from the album still resonate with fans, including “Ready Or Not,” “Fu-Gee-La,” and the Bob Marley cover, “No Woman, No Cry.”

After the success of “The Score,” the band took time off for solo projects, with Hill finding huge success as a solo artist thanks to her album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.”

The band reunited for a small number of shows in the mid-2000s but the tour announced Tuesday is their first world tour in 25 years and their first shows of any kind in 15 years.
