Jason Wade (lead vocals, guitar) and Bryce Soderberg (bass, vocals) discussed the return of Lifehouse and the current co-headlining tour with Switchfoot, which stops at the Rose Music Center in Huber Heights on Saturday, July 29.

Wade: "We're all like 37 or 38 now, and we started out when we were teenagers — so we just needed a break. You can feel it when bands get older and you can tell they've lost the passion for it. It's not as fun for the fans when they're just going through the motions to pay their bills."
Soderberg: "We're at a place right now where we're super excited to get back on this tour and get in front of crowds we haven't been in front of in six or seven years. It becomes fresh again and the songs have a whole new life to them."
Wade: "The band has been together for 17 years and we have seven albums so it felt like a great time to put out a greatest hits package. It's been a lifetime so we wanted to reflect on the time we put into this."

Soderberg: "Since we haven't done a tour in so long we're going through all the songs and trying get a lot of our greatest hits in there. We want the show to be fresh. It's going to be really fun. We're happy to get back out and play for an audience that we haven't played for in the United States in quite a long time."
Wade: "Our touring experience has always been to make the album and then go promote it. We'd always play seven or eight tracks off the new album we were promoting. For this one it's going to be fun because the pressure is off. We're not worrying about trying to have a Top 40 hit or anything like that. I've always been a fan of Switchfoot so when they reached out about a co-headlining tour it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get the wheels rolling again."
Soderberg: "We've been warming up to the idea of starting to write songs for a new album. We'll probably start that as soon as this tour is over. We're really looking forward to the next couple of years because we're independent so it's really wide open for us right now."
