The U.S. State Department has approved a $255 million Foreign Military Sale to Poland, enhancing the defense capabilities of this key NATO ally with Communications Equipment and related support.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) formally notified Congress of the proposed sale today, following the Government of Poland's request to acquire a range of communications equipment. The proposed deal encompasses AN/PRC-117G, AN/PRC-152A, AN/PRC-158, AN/PRC-160, AN/PRC-163, and AN/PRC-167 radios, along with Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers enabled by Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM) or M-Code. Additionally, the package includes support equipment, spare parts, technical manuals and publications, new equipment training, U.S. Government and contractor technical engineering, logistics, and personnel services, among other related elements.

The approval of this sale aligns with the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States, as it seeks to enhance the security of a vital NATO ally that plays a crucial role in maintaining political stability and economic progress in Europe, the DSCA said.

Poland's request to acquire these communication capabilities is seen as a strategic move to update its military infrastructure and enhance interoperability with the United States and other allied nations.

The principal contractor for this Foreign Military Sale is identified as L3Harris Technologies, Inc., based in Melbourne, Florida.

The proposed sale is subject to finalization and congressional approval, but it marks a positive step towards strengthening the defense partnership between the United States and Poland, reinforcing the collaborative efforts within the NATO alliance.
