Classification. Subg. Festuca L.

Notes. Considered a vegetatively proliferating form of F. rubra s.l. which is more closely related to F. rubra subsp. richardsonii than var. prolifera. (Aiken et al. 1987). The type specimen is illustrated in the image library.
