Origin: Mexico, Sonora: Tiburon Island, and possibly on the nearby mainland.

Growth Habits: Solitary barrel cactus, up to 3 feet tall (1 m), 14 inches in diameter (35 cm); about 21 ribs; 4 central spines in cross, the lowest one longer and flattened; awl shaped radials.
