Origin: Northwestern Mexico (southern Sonora, northern Sinaloa) in the coastal plains, in sandy alluvial soil, generally under a shrub.

Growth Habits: Generally solitary, up to 4 inches tall, 4 inches wide (10x10 cm); dark green tubercles 0.4 to 0.5 inch tall (10-13 mm), 0.3 to 0.5 inch in diameter (8-12 mm); milky sap; axils with white wool, 1 or 2 white hair; young areoles with white wool; 1 central spine, 0.3 to 0.5 inch long (8-12 mm); 6 to 8 radials.
