Margot Robbie has revealed the moment she realised she was a "good actor" was while watching her performance in I, Tonya.

Speaking at a BAFTA: A Life in Pictures event dedicated to her career so far, Robbie reflected on her role in the film as controversial figure skater Tonya Harding and the impact it had on her career.

"I, Tonya was the first time I watched a movie and went, 'OK, I’m a good actor,'" she said (via Hollywood Reporter). The 2017 film was also the first major production to be released under Robbie's LuckyChap Production company.

The actress added that this was the moment she felt "good enough" to reach out and work with her "idols" in the industry, including director Quentin Tarantino.

She revealed that working with the director was a "bucket list thing for me". The pair worked together on Tarantino's 2019's film Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood where Robbie played film star Sharon Tate.

She also revealed that after Once Upon a Time... was released she recreated the scene where her character Tate watches herself on-screen, by going to the same cinema and watching the film. "I had pretty much the same experience [as Tate]," she said. "Even down to the fact that the person I bought the ticket off was like, 'but you’re in the movie,' and I was like, 'I know'.

"I was like, 'We’re practically doing the scene from the film!'"
