Mr. Vernon L. Kimball, 74, departed this life on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 to life eternal with his Lord Jesus Christ. He was born on February 23, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Vernon Horace Kimball and Rose Morganegg Kimball. Mr. Kimball was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church for more than 40 years, where he served as Sunday school teacher, a basketball coach and a sound technician. Mr. Kimball served in the United States Military from 1959-1961. He was a Scoutmaster of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 284 in Kingsport. His three sons were members of Troop 284 where Mr. Kimball received the Silver Beaver Award while serving within the troop. His favorite hobby was woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Horace Kimball and Rose Morganegg Kimball. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Brenda Day Kimball; his three sons, Vernon Kimball, II and his wife, Deanna, and their children, Chelsea and Dalton; Chris Kimball and his wife, Cassie and their children, Taylor, Chelsea, Paige and Caroline; and Greg Kimball and his wife, Sharon and their children, Gregory and Kara; great-grandson, Noah; sisters, Jane Thomas and her husband, Virgil, and Dale Grimaldi and her husband, John; brother, Bruce Kimball; sister-in-law, Sherry Hill and her husband, Ron; brother-in-law, Chuck Wells and his wife, Shirley; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday evening, October 23, 2014 at Sunnyside Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Roy Graves officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday morning, October 24, 2014 in the Garden of Everlasting Life II at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers honoring Mr. Kimball are Gary Pinnex, Ken Swinney, John Roller, Danny Livesay, Doug Foster and Bill Shelton.
