Son of Joseph and Catherine Leo Fodero, Joseph was born and raised in Bloomfield, NJ. A graduate of Bloomfield High School, he went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts & Science Degree and Medical Degree from Georgetown University. This was followed by a residency in General Surgery. Joseph has created a legacy of virtue and commitment amongst his community.
He is predeceased by his sister, Claire Fodero Carras; and brothers, Pasquale Fodero and Theodore Fodero. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Nellie Ann Wilson Fodero and his two children, Jeanne Fodero Maguire and Joseph Fodero, MD. He has also been blessed with seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He has many loving nieces and nephews. He has changed the lives of many and is cherished by all who have known him.
Dr. Fodero was a member of the American College of Surgeons, The American Board of Surgery and Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. He was Chief of General Surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital and a member of the staff at Barnabas Medical Center and Hospital Center at Orange.
He practiced general surgery for over forty years and was Medical Director of the Wound Care Center of Northern NJ.
