Don, one of 7 siblings, was born in Prince Edward Island on October 14th, 1930. He left home at age 17, and worked at jobs in Canada's north before settling in Edmonton, Alberta. He met his Betty at a "young adult group" at church. They married in 1963, had a son, James, then moved to Calgary, Alberta, where they had their second son, Glen. Don's family transfered to Victoria BC, where Don had a full career working at the Pacific Forestry Centre. He retired in 1991, and enjoyed a full life. Don enjoyed family road trips around B.C. and Alberta, as well as many bus trips with Betty (and a trip to Scotland) in his retirement years. Don had a love of history, both local and world, liked to read, enjoy breakfasts out, and had his favourite places around Victoria (Fort Rodd Hill, Saxe Point, to name a few). He and Betty attended St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Victoria in their later years. Don has now gone to join his beloved wife Betty Joan, who passed away almost exactly a year ago. His memory is cherished by his sons, James David and Glen Donald (Sheri-Lynn) as well as grandchildren, Laura, Ethan and Jackson. We love you Dad, and miss you very much.
