Kim Wilde – Kim Wilde

No one has updated this entry so I'll plug in what I have on my copy with the "SN" catalog prefix. The cover is brown cardboard, typical for cheap re-issues, with the artwork paper printed and glued over the cardboard sleeve. As mentioned on the back cover, this is remastered by Ron McMaster. The runout has stamped MASTERED BY EMI /^ and the etched "MᶜM" on both sides. Also has the stamped Specialty Records logo on both sides. Rest of the runout is as follows:

Side A: SN-1-16351-P-1 1-1 SM1-1 SPAR B-24374 △13279 OX (although that "X" has an extra break to the left at the top, so I don't know what it's supposed to really be).

Side B: SN-2-16351-P-1 1-2 SPAR O- △13279-X B-24345

I assume the "O" is the Jacksonville pressing plant.

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to scan a high resolution image of their OBI and add the picture to the listing? My album didn’t have one and I’d love to have a copy of it. Thanks!

What is the unedited shower version of Chequered Love? My fantasy is running wild and I imagine wet shirt action with nipples poking out.

This is what I call an amazing edition. I bought it as soon as it was released and I really don't regret it. All the songs, all the b-sides, all the music videos + brand new remixes (the matt pop remixes are especially respectful and magical) but even some of the other remixers also did a great job modernising the tracks without disrespecting them too much. The booklet is amazing (full of nice colour pictures, all the lyrics + the story of the release of this album by a true Kim specialist). This is an edition done right, finally ! Thank you Cherry Red Records. This is way more than any Kim Wilde fan could hope for. You've exceeded all our expectations. I hope Kim's MCA albums would also go out next this way. Fingers crossed.

I must thank user Mike in Oakland (from another site) who noted that the European pressings and the U.S. EMI pressing sound different. The U.S. pressing is slightly thinner in the low end, and that makes for a more bright and brittle sound. While the Dutch pressing is warmer, and thus in my books, far superior. Pity the Kids in America who had to settle for the harsher version.

It would seem to be a little-known fact that the backing band on this album is actually symphonic prog outfit The Enid. The entire band is name-checked in the notes on the back: Steve Stuart (sic) (guitars & vox); Robert [John] Godfrey (keys); Chris North (drums); Martin Russell (bass); and Francis Lickerish (guitars). They owned and ran The Lodge recording studio at this time, the place where the album was recorded.

My version (European release) has three bonus tracks not listed above: "Shane", "Boys" and 7" version of "Water on Glass".
