Product information
Commonly known as Golden Privet, Ligustrum Ovalifolium 'Aureum' produces variegated, green and golden-edged evergreen leaves. During the summer, if hedges are left untrimmed, clusters of white blooms emerge. Easy to grow and evergreen, this hardy shrub is well-suited to many different areas as a hedge or a shrub. Grow Privet in any well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Plants will tolerate a wide range of soils, from sand to chalk and clay, and areas of pollution. Ligustrum can be grown as a free-standing shrub or trained as a hedge. Free-standing shrubs will require minimal pruning; simply removed any dead, damaged or diseased growth each spring. Trim hedges in May and again in August. After pruning, mulch plants with 5cm (2") of well-rotted compost or manure around the base of the plants. Caution: harmful if eaten.
