This has been a nice little camera. I bought this for the beach, which i haven't gotten to test it there yet ,but I have dropped it into the fish aquarium and took some pictures and they came out wonderful. Overall I'm happy with it, Its taken some nice pictures of the family and I don't have any trouble navigating the features....The only trouble I'm having is figuring out what all the features mean and how to use them. I'm very happy with it. For my everyday use its been great, and my kids can splash all they want and I don't have to tell them to stop splashing me. Compared to my last camera which was a Kodak easy share I'm getting more for my money because I can sink it, I don't have to buy batteries, and the charge has been better.
I'm looking for an upgrade to my walkaround point and shoot cameras. I don't always want to lug around the dslr and bag so I go point and shoot. I'm also looking for a camera that I don't have to worry about when I'm on my hiking trips and taking pictures of waterfalls or out in the snow/rain. This camera seemed like the one for me after I looked at some of the pictures posted to flickr. There weren't any posted from the TG-310 but there were some posted from its cousin the Tough 8010. I saw high quality stuff taken in places it would be extremely difficult to get anything good with a regular dslr. When I bought this I charged up the battery and was on my way in about 3 hours. The camera has a nice solid feel to it. The buttons were easy enough to operate and the screen was nice. It fits in my shirt pocket or pants pocket very conveniently. I got a really nice picture of a very large moth on a daisy. You can even see the individual hairs on the moth's antennae and the scales on it's wings. This was using the super macro mode. The image I got was very high quality. I had to adjust the exposure a bit but I got the shot and was very pleased. The image quality didn't hold up though. When I tried taking some normal landscape shots the images seemed to go soft and lose detail. It looked like someone took the pixels of the image and smashed them with a hammer. The exposures were also all over the place. There's no manual control. It's full auto exposure and it's not very accurate. I did manage to get a nice reflection off a pond in the garden. That one looks sharp until you start enlarging the details. The image quality falls apart very quickly. It almost resembles a pastel painting. So I took that back as well. I got very few images with this before the freshly charged battery died. I took about 100 and then the camera wouldn't take anything anymore. I think I'm going to have to save my money and get one of the new Pen digitals with the 4/3 sensor and FULL HD video. I don't seem to be able to find anything with some manual control over exposure which matters a lot to me.Read full review
I picked up one for $30 and it does just about everything that a brand new Olympus tough does, great camera if your on the fence about getting one, buy it already!!! You won't regret it!!

Why I chose this camera over so many others. Rugged water resistant case that can withstand a hiking or camping trip that would kill another camera. Small size and lightweight design fits in pocket and caries easily easily. Uses standard SD (SDXC) style memory instead of the proprietary XD that many of the older tough cameras had. Uses standard LI-42B batteries that I have lots of already. Charges the battery in the camera with a USB (at the computer end)/transformer two piece combo so no extra charger to lug around or forget to bring along, just stick the cable in your pocket and charge off a computer. Or bring both and charge on a standard outlet even in a foreign country with the right adapter. I also have a aftermarket charger that came with some high capacity batteries (also purchased on E-Bay a few years ago) Decent features/settings for the price. Picture and video quality in bright lighting are better than expected for a pocket camera in this price range. I am using a 32GB class 10 (10Mb/s) Transcend card with this to save money instead of opting for the much faster and more expensive (30Mb/s) class 10 extreme from Sandisk that I use in my Canon EOS1DS Mark 3. No lens cover to protect the lens (or jam with sand and render the camera inoperative) a positive in my book anyway.Read full review
I already had this camera but my battery clip broke and I needed a new battery so I just decided to get this one instead of fixing mine. the one I purchased looks like new and works great but came with a dead battery. Great camera though.
