This book has a lot of good material in it. It provides a great introduction to differential equations. The material is presented fairly clearly and steps are explained well. Problems can be figured out from the examples that are given. The Student Solutions Manual (separate) is a good supplement to explain how specific problems were solved. I liked the applications sections, as they gave great examples of how differential equations are used to model real world processes, and how the techniques shown in the book can be used to solve them. It's always good to know that all this number pushing we learn in math class actually has some real use. There are things that this book doesn't cover that my teacher used other books to teach from (certain equation solving techniques, special substitutions I believe), but there's also plenty in this book that we didn't get to. I plan to keep it to use for reference in the future.Read full review
This book has been pretty good so far. The examples given are very helpful for the practice problems, which is more than I can say for other books I've had.
Got this book for my differential equations class at engineering school. So far, it has been pretty clear - good examples and even some programming help.
Hard to understand. I couldn't learn a thing from this book. I had to use the internet to teach me Diff EQ... thank God I found a good website, because without it I would have failed.
I recommend this book if you only want chapter up to 7. In an original one, there is chapters up to 10. This one has last three chapters (Ch 8,9, and 10) missing!!!
