I love the Optoma DV10 Movie Time projector! I now own 2, one for a backup and to take on the road. I bought my first one in Nov 2006 during the Black Friday sale at Circuit City, and got the free subwoofer and free Optoma screen and they are a perfect combo! I use this as my TV and believe me! watching everyday TV on a 6ft screen is great! Movies come alive, it's like having your own personal theater in your living room! With built in DVD player, you have a 1 stop home entertainment center! Mine is hooked up to a Yamaha Surround Sound Home Theater and it's awesome! with a crystal clear picture, I've not had the urge to spend the extra $$ necessary to have HD, everything already looks like HD! The portability of this projector means I can take it outside and watch movies on a 30foot screen! It's like having a drive in movie in my backyard! It's great for pool parties! Now, the only drawback is that since I use this as my TV, the projector bulb lasts about 16-17 months, about 3000 hrs and since it's intended purpose was for just watching movies, I have to buy a replacement bulb about once every 18 months of so, around $250 if you have your old one relamped, about $150 if you are lucky to find one on ebay and about $350 if you buy one new from an online retailer or from Optoma.com. The DVD player had to be serviced once already, it was still under warranty so it was free, and the second one I bought for a backup,I bought a warranty through Square Trade for about $33 for 3 years, so if that DVD player goes out, I'll either get it fixed or my purchase price refunded,so I'm covered either way! I've decided not to upgrade to the DV11 because the DVD player is a slot in the back and my unit is mounted on the wall behind my couch, so it would be a problem getting DVD's in and out, but you can also mount the DV11 on the ceiling, so that's an option. I researched all of these home projectors on the market before I made this purchase, and since I got the whole unti, with subwoofer and screen, for less than $500, the price can be beat! If you buy one on ebay, you will pay under $400 for the unit itself, and the screen can be bought for around $100 on ebay, and you MUST have a screen! A white sheet on the wall just doesn't cut it! So if you are looking for a great alternative to a Plasma TV or LCD, this is it! None of them can compete with the GIANT 6 foot screen! and the crystal clear picture without having to pay a monthly fee for HD channels and upgrading your satellite or cable! All in all, on a scale of 1-10, I would give this a 9, only because the DVD unit didn't last long without needing serviced and you do have to replace the bulbs every 3000 hrs, but hey! for $250 for every 18 months or so to enjoy a 6ft TV, it's worth it!Read full review
I LOVE this projector! this is my 2nd purchase to have one as a spare. I had to send my unit in last year for servicing and not even a 54" Plasma TV would do after watching this 6 foot screen! This unit is easy to operate and has the DVD player on top, which I like MUCH better than the newer model DV11 which the player is in the back and since my player is mounted on the wall behind my sofa, we would not be able to get a dvd in and out, what were they thinking? Anyway, I get about 2000 hrs out of my bulb, BUT, we use this as out TV so it gets a lot of use! SCIFI moves are great! No matter what you watch, it's like being in a theater! There is no a place to recycle your lamps at a cost of $250 instead of the current price of about $350 to buy a new one, so that is good news! Also, we have the OPTOMA screen to show it on, a MUST! This is also hooked into my home theater for a true surround sound experience! Everyone that has visited my home and seen this in action, wants one! You can expect 1-2 yrs trouble free and I would strongly urge you to buy the extended warranty with this, like through Square Trade as the dvd players go out a lot, IF you use this everyday like we do, and the cost of repair is too high. The warranty from Optoma breaks down like this: NEW units, 90 days on the lamp, 1 yr on the DVD player, 2 yrs everything else. This is better than ANY tv you can buy, Plasma, LCD, whatever! as NONE of them give you the HUGE picture, crystal clear with my DirectTV DVR receiver, excellent view from ANY direction, NO picture distortion and watching it is awesome!Read full review
This is an awesome purchase! Absolutely love it, it works great!. High quality sound and picture gives movie night that theatre type experience. Easy to use and comes with its own carry case. Would recommend to all. Thank you!
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
It's easy to use and has good projection. I'd buy this again and again. If you want a huge conference center you'd have to add the subwoofer but in a classroom atmosphere the internal speaker is just fine.
Best projector for the money hands down. There is only one downside that we have noticed is that you have to place it low to project onto a screen on a garage or other walls etc. Very bright and well built.
