Fantastic Leica lens. Superior build quality which you would expect from a Leica lens. I have owned almost every version of 21mm lenses Leica makes. I still have the 21/4 Super Angulon and had the previous version, the 21/2.8 Elmarit. I have kept the Super Angulon for sentimental reasons, certainly not for its performance, though. The 21/2.8 ASPH is a huge improvement over the Elmarit. The 21/2.8 ASPH is almost as good as the new 21 SEM, but is a bit faster speed wise and a nice like new clean copy such as this one is considerably less costly. My copy of this lens is also 6-bit coded, which automatically tells the camera what corrections to apply to eliminate vignetting and color casts on the borders of the frame. Other lenses to consider would be the Zeiss 21/2.8 ZM and the CV 21/4 Color Skopar and 21/1.8. The Zeiss is an excellent lens, but I prefer the size and form factor of the Leica lens. The CV Color Skopar is an excellent lens if you are on a budget and is small in size, but its performance is no where near that of the Leica. The CV 21/1.8 is a superb lens, but is too bulky for me. I am the editor of the LHSA Viewfinder journal and regularly test the lenses from Leica and the other top tier lens makers for the Leica M cameras.Read full review
