Origin
The posterior antebrachial cutaneous nerve arises from the radial nerve and contains sensory nerve fibers from the C5—C8 spinal segments.
Course
The posterior antebrachial cutaneous nerve arises from the radial nerve as it descends inside the spiral radial groove against the bony humerus between the lateral and medial heads of triceps brachii muscle. It pierces the lateral head of the triceps brachii to become superficial. It descends posterior to the lateral epicondyle to the posterior aspect of the forearm.
Branches
Sensory nerve fibers from the posterior antebrachial cutaneous nerve eventually relay the sensory cutaneous information to the C5—C8 cervical segments of the spinal cord.
Supplied Structures
The posterior antebrachial cutaneous nerve supplies the skin of the posterolateral forearm.
