Description
The medial surface of tibia is the smooth, slightly convex, subcutaneous area found along the anteromedial aspect of the bone. It is one of the three surfaces of tibia, the other two being the lateral and posterior surfaces, and is an area that is bounded:
—anteriorly, by the anterior border of tibia;
—posteriorly, by the medial border of tibia.
The medial surface of tibia provides insertion sites for the gracilis, sartorius and semitendinosus muscles, as well an attachment site for the tibial collateral ligament.
