Organically grown Oriental Poppy. Seeds are harvested and hand sorted in Whidbey Island, Washington. Includes approximately 300 seeds.
Uses: Ornamental only. Great for decorative garden displays, bouquets, and arrangements.
**Not for consumption as most of the plant is poisonous.
Sow: Sow outdoors in fall-winter. Scatter seeds and cover with a thin layer of soil.
**Oriental poppy does not do well with transplanting, so best to sow directly in garden where you want it to stay once fully established. To start seeds indoors, set under grow lights. Plant in biodegradable pots that can be planted directly into the garden to avoid replanting or transplanting.
Poppy seeds benefit from stratification, a freeze and thaw cycle, to germinate. Best to plant in fall or early spring.
Sun: Full sun / partial sun. At least 6 hours of sunlight a day
Soil: Well-draining, fertile soil
Spacing: 6 inches apart
Watering: Once established, this poppy is drought tolerant and does not like "wet feet". (Make sure seedlings and starters are frequently watered.)
