Villach - The best things to do near Villach!

 Villach is a city in Carinthia and with around 65,000 inhabitants it is the 7th largest city in Austria. It is remarkable that there are 5 Carinthian lakes in the urban area of Villach: Ossiacher See, Faaker See, Magdalensee, Vassacher See and Silber See.

 The 2,166 m high local mountain in Villach has been a protected nature park since 2002. The 16.5 km long Villach Alpine Road takes you to the top, where there are numerous activities in Winter such as hiking trails from easy to difficult, cross-country skiing, ski tours or snowshoeing.

 This bird of prey and owl park offers you a breathtaking 45-minute flight show. Get to know the habits of these special animals up close in the open air.

 You will also find the largest monkey enclosure in Austria with 170 Japanese monkeys. On this guided tour through the monkey park, you can experience the group of monkeys live and watch them swim and dive and living their daily lives.

 This climbing forest, which has received many awards, has over 150 elements and is one of the largest in Austria. This eventful excursion destination offers unforgettable experiences for children and adults from beginners to professionals.

 Within only 10 minutes and 2 stops by S-Bahn - the Gerlitzen Alpe is the hiking destination for the whole family in the heart of Carinthia. The summit is at approx. 1,900 m and the Gerlitzen Alpe is a popular ski area in winter and an international hotspot for paragliders in summer.

Unfortunately, the Drau Boat Ride, directly in Villach, was discontinued at the end of 2019. Since then there is still the possibility to choose from 2 boats on Lake Ossiach (MS Ossiach and MS Gerlitze) to experience the nearby Lake Ossiach.
