Leavened "štruklji" with walnut filling and honey

Štruklji is a traditional Slovenian dish that used to be eaten on farms at the time of mowing. Leavened "štruklji" following prepared according to the recipe below have a magical taste that takes one back in time. By adding the Slovenian honey that has the EU Protected Designation of Origin label, the dish is turned into a delicious dessert. Have a go at it, you won't be sorry.

Ingredients to serve four:

•1 kg smooth white flour

•1 cube yeast (100 ml water)

•1 teaspoon salt

•1 egg

•1 tablespoon olive oil

•200 ml lukewarm water

•butter

•breadcrumbs, ground walnuts

•1 tablespoon honey

Break up the yeast, add a teaspoon of sugar and lukewarm water and leave to rise in a warm place. Sift the flour in a bowl; add yeast, salt, the egg and a tablespoon of olive oil. Knead into smooth dough. If necessary, add lukewarm water. Let the dough rise for one hour in a warm place. Roll the dough into a finger-thick sheet, sprinkle ground dry walnuts on top, pierce with a fork and let rise for 15 minutes in a warm place. Steam for 20 minutes with the lid on.

Cut the cooked roll. Sauté breadcrumbs in a pan with butter and pour over the roll.

Drizzle honey on top for a better taste.
