FC Dallas waives forwards Milton Rodriguez and Peri Marosevic

Peri Milton

FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas has released forwards Milton Rodriguez and Peri Marosevic, the club announced today.

Rodriguez joined FC Dallas on May 13, 2010 to provide additional scoring from the forward position. The Colombian international did not disappoint. He ended the MLS regular season as the team’s third-highest goal scorer with five goals in 13 games. Rodriguez started FC Dallas’ first playoff game against Real Salt Lake on Oct. 30, 2010. He played 32 minutes before suffering a right groin injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the postseason.

Rodriguez started the 2011 season as FC Dallas’ top forward, scoring the team’s first goal of the season in a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire on March 19. The 35-year-old saw time in every FC Dallas match through May 7 before being sidelined with IT band syndrome. Before joining FC Dallas, Rodriguez was the leading scorer for Real Cartagena (Colombia), where he scored a league-best six goals and tallied one assist in 15 games. He has made three appearances for the Colombian National Team.

Selected by FC Dallas with the fifth overall pick in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft, Marosevic made his MLS debut on March 29, 2009 against Chivas USA when he subbed in for Jeff Cunningham in the 80th minute of a 2-0 loss. Marosevic went on to appear in three more matches for head coach Schellas Hyndman during the 2009 campaign.

During the 2010 season, the University of Michigan product highlighted the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup when he netted a hat trick while on loan with the Austin Aztex (Orlando City SC). Marosevic scored in the 35th and 80th minutes of stoppage time to lead the Aztex to a 3-1 victory over the Arizona Sahuaros on June 23. The 22-year-old forward netted one goal in 288 minutes for the FC Dallas Reserves this season. The goal, a game-winner in a 2-1 exhibition win over the USL Premier Development League Laredo Heat on April 26, was scored in the 85th minute.
