TUR - Former star of Turkish basketball David Rivers pays a visit

ISTANBUL (2010 FIBA World Championship) - One of the legends of Euroleague basketball and former Turkey league player for Tofas, David Rivers has come to Turkey to follow 2010 FIBA World Championship Finals.

David Rivers, who won two Turkish League title and two cups during his two-year stay, has returned for a brief visit to Turkey.

"It is really amazing to be in here again. I spent two wonderful years in Turkey. I made good friends and I am excited about seeing them again. When I talked my former team manager Efe Aydan who is now president of Tofas I understood that I really miss this place."

"It is exciting to be a follower of the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Istanbul. The games are very competitive and spectators enjoy watching them. Especially the USA, Lithuania and of course Turkey play well. The Turkish National Team have found a really good rhythm and play with great confidence. I do not see any barrier for them in reaching the final" he says.

"I am impressed by the whole team, not one by one, because they managed to reach the Semi-Finals as a team and have not allowed themselves to drift away from their discipline".

It has almost been 11 years since Rivers left Turkey and Turkish Basketball has changed a lot since.

"The key of Turkey's success is that they planned and built this from 10 years ago. They tried to make this team successful despite the some difficulties but now they are very close to the happy ending they deserve".
