Actress. She was an American film actress of the 1920s and 30s. Her father, a farmer and a barber, played the violin in local orchestras. Her parents were first-generation American. Before signing with a film studio, she studied music at the Ellison-White Conservatory of Music. At the age of 11, she played the title role in a theatrical production of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." She appeared in over twenty films during the course of her seven-year career, with lead roles in such films as "Hold 'Em Yale" in 1928 and the controversial and banned in Great Britain crime film "Party Girl" in 1930. She also appeared in the 1930 musical "King of Jazz" as a vocalist. Her last role was in 1934 in the comedy, "Million Dollar Baby." At the age of 34, she died of from ammonia poisoning, which was never declared a suicide, accident, or as her parents thought, homicide. She was married twice with no children.
