hostile takeover bid--as well as some suspicion Conway's determination to fight might be a bit too personal, as he was once an acolyte of Oracle's aggressive CEO

. But doubt and suspicion did not change PeopleSoft's policy toward its outgoing leader: Monday PeopleSoft said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that Conway would receive a lump sum cash payment of $3,207,766.33. PeopleSoft had no official comment about the package.
