- Willi and Isolde Liebherr's father, Hans, was a revered post-World War II industrialist known for his company, Hans Liebherr Maschinenfabrik.
- The firm, which became the Liebherr Group, introduced the first mobile tower crane and first hydraulic excavator in mid-century Europe.
- By the time Willi and Isolde took over in 1993, upon Hans' death, the company had grown into equipment manufacturing giant.
- Willi joined the business in 1971 after getting an engineering degree; Isolde joined in 1976 after getting a management degree.
