British jeweler, Shaun Leane, designed the engagement ring and wedding band worn by Princess Beatrice during her marriage to property developer, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, in a ceremony held at the Royal Chapel of All Saints, Royal Lodge, Windsor, on July 17.

Leane’s platinum and diamond engagement ring was designed as “a fusion of Victorian and Art Deco designs,” Leane said in a statement. The complementary platinum and diamond wedding band was crafted to fit perfectly to the shape of the engagement ring and “so the two rings sit seamlessly together.”

The engagement and wedding rings were crafted by hand in Leane’s atelier in London’s Mayfair neighborhood and are set with diamonds of “the highest color and clarity,” of which all are GIA certified and ethically sourced. The bespoke experience began with a detailed and personal consultation with the groom.

The design is filled with personal and sentimental signifiers for the couple and unique to them, an approach that is synonymous with Leane’s bespoke service, the jeweler said.

“I am thrilled for the happy couple. It warms my heart to see two wonderful people unite in love as much as Edoardo and Beatrice do,” Leane said in a statement. “I feel honored to have been a part of their journey and to have been involved in the very special moments of designing and creating the engagement ring and wedding ring.”

In addition, Princess Beatrice wore the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara, loaned to her by Queen Elizabeth II for the special day. The tiara was created by London jeweler, Garrard, in 1919 for Queen Mary. The tiara was gifted to Queen Elizabeth (the Queen’s mother) in 1936 who in turn loaned it to her daughter, Princess Elizabeth (who of is now the Queen), to wear on her wedding day in 1947.

The wedding was originally scheduled to take place at Chapel Royal of St James's Palace on May 29, but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Princess Beatrice of York is the elder daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York. Beatrice is a granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II. She is the ninth, and the second female, in line of succession to the British throne.

Leane began his career training in London’s Hatton Garden, prior to founding his eponymous jewelry design business in 1999. Alongside his award-winning collections, Leane has also collaborated with Alexander McQueen, Givenchy and Boucheron. Shaun Leane’s jewelry has been described by Sotheby’s as “collectable antiques of the future” and his pieces are on permanent exhibit across three departments of the V&A Museum in London as well as the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
