My Queen by Alexander McQueen is a Amber Floral fragrance for women. My Queen was launched in 2005. My Queen was created by Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion. Top notes are Parma Violet and Sweet Almond; middle notes are Heliotrope, White Musk, White Flowers and Orange Blossom; base notes are Iris, Vanilla, Patchouli, Vetiver and Cedar.

With fragrance My Queen, Alexander McQueen has an intention to embody the diversified nature of perfume and a vision of the woman of his dreams. A real kaleidoscope of scents in one bottle, miraculous, wonderful, mysterious, and seductive, created by two masters perfumers – Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion. The fragrance possesses a special four-level structure instead of classical three. The notes of almond, and violets open the fragrance and slowly turn into the pure scent of orange, white musk, heliotrope, and white flowers. The fragrance further develops towards the notes of patchouli, cedar and vetiver, and finally ends with notes of iris and vanilla. The bottle is very feminine, with graceful, precisely defined curves, and of a mysterious violet color. Alexander is a great lover and collector of glass art, and his wish was that the bottle of this perfume, besides its beauty, feels comfortable in every woman\'s hand. The bottle designer is Thomas Bastide. The fragrance was created in 2005.

Smells like a cloud of black pepper and a hint of violets as they struggle to cough through for about the first hour. Then afterwards, the pepper cloud dissipates and the violet finally comes through. However, the pepper smell still lingers in the background, and to me, the two clash. Sad, because the violet here is done very beautifully. It's not sweet or powdery at all, just floral purple violet, but that pepper note takes over on me.

Rosiewebber

This isn’t what I was expecting at all. I’m getting mostly a sharp Cedarwood note, with a floral baby wipe hanging around in the background. And actually, I wouldn’t mind the baby wipe scent at all, but combined with the strong overpowering cedar, it turns somewhat sour. It just doesn’t mesh well for me.
A shame, I’m an absolute sucker for violet scents and I don’t really get much violet here. I don’t dislike this, but I don’t think I would wear it either.

JKeto

I find the vanilla really overpowering in this one. To be honest, to my nose that’s the case for many feminine fragrances, Hypnotic Poison for example.

emilymonroe1

Wonderful scent and a one-of-a-kind beauty. Dark but delicate, wonderful and seductive in such an amazing way. The top notes of My Queen have a woody, almost bitter almond edge. This is not a straight perfume; it evolves. Some of the base notes, such as woods and vetiver, are noticeable right away. To my nose, the development is more in bringing in the softer white flowers, which are a little powdered but not too so. Irrational, emotional, and erratic. It's deep and thick, peppery and powdery all at once. Stunning!

chimidoro

Still the best violet perfume I have EVER smelled.
Peppery, deep, rich, woody iris and violet scent.
Cool, crisp bright white flowers in the heart.
Smooth, warm, woody, cedar dominant base.

Yes Malena

There are a few I've tried that are similar--Aimez-Moi by Caron, Organza by Givenchy, 21 Bonaparte by Vicky Tiel, I would say even Hypnotic Poison is along the same vein, and possibly Angel's Dust by Francesca Bianchi, but that one is much more delicious.
My Queen is nice, but please do not be sad it's discontinued, because there are others like it, and having sampled it I wouldn't pay the prices eBay seems to be asking right now. It is to be noted, the cedar is fairly prominent, and gives a peppery note. I like it but I have heard others complain about a cedar like this. To my nose the patchouli is very light. It is all about almond, heliotrope, vanilla. There is a nice stage where you can see the white flowers. I do not get a lot of violet or iris but yes they are there, making the perfume richer and more interesting. Overall it is just fine.

Roses amour

Demure yet commanding fragrance. Due to their heady, sensual, powerful fragrance and beautiful colour, violets are often seen as romantic flowers and this aspect has been captured by the perfumers with the combination of notes including the purity of the orange blossom. According to floriography (the language of flowers), in the Victorian-era violets symbolised modesty and blue violets, devotion.

Rozalina

I thought this would be more “edgy” due to my familiarity of Kingdom, another discontinued gem from Alexander McQueen, but this is a lady-like, elegant and comforting perfume. I would imagine a classy lady, a young mother or much-loved teacher, wearing this beautiful fragrance. Love when heliotrope and vanilla is used this way, as a lightly creamy base to the powdery violets.

jean-marc sinan

Creamy violets.......almond facet.......beautiful

zoebo1403

I have a big size bottle available if anyone is interested : [email protected]

MediaevalWench66

This is one of the most beautiful fragrances I've ever owned. I had the 100ml bottle and treasured every last drop. On me it smelt of powdery violets. Gorgeous!

Sherine777

An unexpected beauty that came my way!

I don't normally seek powdery perfumes but I found this at a very tempting price and just went ahead.

This is lady-like, soft and feminine in a very nice way.

It gives out a very 'English' and 'From Another Era' vibe (it's not outdated at all) as if this is the perfume worn by the lead female characters in classic English literature novels, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice,...

Edit: I have grown very fond of this and now I figured out why I love some floral fragrances, while in general I don't fancy them much anymore.. It's the Violet! Apparently I've been a sucker for Violets all my life without realizing it! And this is one of the best Violets out there.

Would buy a back up if I spot it anywhere in sight. It's sad that it's discontinued.

hensoiree

What a surprise, this powdery soft cool floral gives the image of a soft bodied woman wearing a frilly floral dress, not the defined lines of a dark McQueen creation. The 4-part structure is an interesting concept and I love that Lee got into the chypre concept so as to add that unexpected dimension to the journey. I have a made-up notion that he made this fragrance for his mother.

Shwets

This smells very similar to Ellen Tracy Bronze crossed with Armani Lei (without the sandal). Strong on the skin with minimal sillage.

It starts off peppery and then settles. The muskiness in the dry down reminds me of that in L'Instant Magic and 3 hours later it smells very similar to L'Instant Magic but lighter!

get the Twist

I got a 35ml bottle last month, on eBay for a quite expensive price because it's discontinued... I wanted to see how good this one was, after the reviews I read. I am quite obsessed for almond and violets notes lately.
The first spray on my wrist...ok...gave it a sniff...nothing especial...I pick the violets, the almonds, the iris, the musk, some woodsy undernotes... it's a mild and soft scent, powdery, a bit bitter and a bit sweet , not much...I was expecting something more BOLD from Mc Queen, more daring, with more oomph.
It's a close to skin scent, floral, romantic, feminine, with a vintage vibe to it...no sillage, not invasive at all but a bit disappointing overall for the high price I paid. This blind buy was not a miss, but if I had sampled it instead...I would be a better option for me. So, it's ok...I think I'll use it as a nighttime scent...
I agree with order reviewer that said this has the Naughty Alice vibe. It is similar, N.A. is less bitter and is sweeter to my nose.
The purple bottle is cute!

Powder + synthetic violets. Featureless.

Oh My!!!
Yet another fragrance in my collection thanks to my Sister :-)
I totally got crazy from sniffing the bottle and now that it sat on my skin like a little kitten on fluffy rug opposite fireplace - I can feel it melting :-)
I love my Queen, it is standing out from the crowd perfume, quite powerful and with a nice sillage :-)
I cannot detect any notes on their own, it is elegant and daring juice :-)
The dry down smells to me a bit like JPG Le Male which, despite being a masculine fume, does not bother me at all :-)
I consider it better than Kingdom. The colour of the bottle pretty much expresses the taste of the ting to come once you spray it :-)
My Queen is charming, it is a sex-appeal, it is love and lust manifest hidden in that beautiful bottle :-)
Worth trying!!!

UnearthlyApothecary

Very pretty creamy almond and violets. It does remind me of Naughty Alice with the musk and violets and also kinda reminds me of Toujours Glamour. My Queen sits close to the skin and radiates soft femininity and calm/cozy vibes. I don’t think I would ever pay the hefty price tag for a FB (even though it’s a beautiful purple bottle and I have a thing for beautiful purple bottles) but I am very glad I got to finally try it

Le parfum c'est chic

When I smelled My Queen for the first time I was really surprise to discover a gentle/quiet perfume. From Alexander McQueen I was expecting something really audacious like his fashion. For a McQueen perfume I found it boring with a lack of personnality. Finally after many test I realise that is not so gentle/ quiet but more complex. For sure is a real beauty. The mix of violet and almond are really interesting. And now I can wear a ''McQueen''. His perfume is less expensive than his clothes.

alexisx

Extraordinary tune between color and shape and content.
The Iris flower is rebuilt on the notes of its talcated precious root, violet and heliotrope, orange blossoms and vanilla notes, almonds and patchouli background, mosses and cedar wood on vetiver. I love it, good longevity and sillage.

cedar_lea

I was surprised to find the almond listed so prominently. Almond is one of my favorite scents and I didn't notice any.

For me I smelled a lovely floral with a nice bit of pepper from the violet, but a little too blended to make out what specific flowers I was smelling.

After a while a rose scent came out.

Later (30-45min) I got a patchouli leather like scent that occasionally had an unpleasent poo like note, but just every so often

After the first hour it morphed into a sweet vanilla.

I love that it changes, but while each level is interesting nothing is amazing enough for me to fall in love.

kraxa

I am a latecomer to this perfume, never have been much of a violets fan.Love almonds though, and having just found a full sealed bottle at a ridiculous price at my local perfume discount shop I snapped it up blindly. WOW, I have read all the reviews here, all I can add is that if you love Tim Burton's movies this is one of them. In a bottle, and you are given the lead role. WOW again.

perfumeaddiction

I recycle all my swap boxes and found this recently on the bottom of one. I totally missed it. Thank you swap partner I am so sorry not to have thanked you.

Wow this is gorgeous reminds me of Tom Ford Violet Blonde and Ellen Tracy Bronze. It's more animalic like TF it has a dirty undertone but very slight, it is sexy. Why do they always discontinue the amazing sexy fragrances?

arefuthescroob

That's a really nice perfume! It opens with strong woody notes on me, and after a while dries to nice almond-vanilla notes. I love that the scent is pretty strong, even though I have only a roll-on.

plum

I really don't know what to think about this one. A few years ago it was on sale at tk maxx for about £20.00. As my blind buys are 50/50, I ordered a sample. Used it a few times and was relieved I didn't buy a full size bottle because I thought it was nothing to write home about. Now I found an almost empty vial, sprayed it once and I quite like it. It's very misterious, warm, powdery ("poudre" sounds nicer:)and sensual fragrance. My taste changes dramaticly, I start to dislike and get rid of my once favourite fragrances to buy those I wasn't fond of in the past....

CoconutCoffee

I get pencil shavings cedar from first to last, a sugary over-sweet mix of flowers including a weak almost-violet, lots of pepper. It smells loud and messy and incoherent - like the sound of a riot rather than a choir. I can believe it smells very different to different people or to the same person at different times. I think it will be hit and miss whether this works for you and whether you can get the same result using it twice in a row. Bit of a roulette wheel. Actually, I think 'roulette' would be a better name than 'my queen'. Queen conveys to me a mature, strong woman who is in control and supported by a long tradition, a sophisticated courtly culture, a stable government - stable, conservative, reactionary. This smells nothing like that. If by queen you mean drag queen wobbling uncertainly on six-inch heels through a poorly rehearsed torch song then maybe. The marketing is all about spells, witches, magic. I don't get that at all. The marketing is as confused as the product. Not something I would wear nor would I enjoy being around someone wearing it.

ntabassum92

This goes on strongly floral, mostly violets. It's a bit bitter, almost with a tinge of gasoline in the back of your throat. I am not in love with this at first, the bitterness is a little too much for me, but it sweetens up as time goes on. The vanilla comes out with the other florals, and you get a lovely, pretty, purple almond musk. It smells very fall/winter, but I have a hunch this scent would do very well in the summer - sweet musk fragrances usually do for me, if sprayed copiously. I wonder what makes me describe this scent as purple, other than the bottle - earlier today when I had it on and was walking through the green trees, it smelled like the color of the air around me...green, brown, blue, gray...I'm probably not making sense now! haha!

RosieRachel

An absolute gem. I think this would be an excellent floral perfume for someone who prefers something more on the masculine side. I sensed some master parfumers at work here, and in my opinion it's definitely one of Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion's best!

On my skin, this is harsh at first; followed by lots of violet greenery and an unusual floral note. I wonder if this is the heliotrope. It's very woodsy, fresh and clean. In the heart, the almonds, powdery iris and cedar are more prominent on the skin. The perfume really does dance back and forth between notes. Eventually everything settles into a dry-down of a powdery almond-vanilla scent. Soft to moderate sillage; lasts for about 8-9 hours.

I really loved this perfume; but unfortunately, almonds are like play-doh on my skin. I would buy this in a heartbeat sans almonds! Oh well, there are many more perfumes out there for me to fall in love with :)

Stenklover

At first I get powdery violet, then it turns to sweet lemon cake. The sweet lemon lasts a long time on my skin, with the powdery violet settling over top of it. It's hard to describe this scent but I LOVE it. I can faintly detect a hint of warmth - patchouli? Very feminine . Adore!!

llburris

This is another fragrance that my skin eats alive. I put it on about an hour ago and I can barely smell it now, even on my clothes. Shame. It's a really nice scent.

cityangel

Very beautiful perfume, may be not my favourite of all I have but still pretty, I personally smell violet and pepper over the rest of ingredients.

cake n' cuddles

If you're like me and the top 3 or 5 notes voted up on here appeal to you, you really need to get this! I smell all the notes in here, this is case of what you see is what you get.
I get violets & iris galore in a fountain of powder. There are green little tips in the flower notes, sounds Dr. Suess-y but that's how I can only explain it. There is a silky almond and dry vanilla combo that makes the fragrance smells just a little bit like cookies. I know queen anne's lace isn't in here but it's a quiet little phantom note for me.
There is that little bit of a rough, masculine element but it's so subtle. I'm talking about the patch, cedar, and vetiver combo. Mainly in this perfume you get the powdery flowers with a touch of almond/vanilla cookies. With a hint of something deeper and sexier.
This fragrance is not overrated in the least! I actually think this smells like what I had hoped something by lolita lempicka would smell like, but I'm not a very big fan of the original lolita or the spin offs of the original. Not to say this smells like licorice, it just has a similar feeling.

Mellyhelly

Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
Why discontinuing this one??
I liked it a lot and it was not headache inducer like 99% of latest stuff.

melancholybaby

I remember trying this when it first came out, and had a close friend not begun to wear it, I might very well have purchased it then. I tried it again recently, and while I found it an interesting and well-made composition, I also felt it was overly sweet and vanillin for my tastes.

nikoleta1

Finally tried this beauty, soft, feminine, powdery with a touch of sweetness. Light, lasting, must have.

Revontuli

Such but such a shame this is discontinued... What a beautiful fragrance and what a beautiful name, My Queen... Dark but sensuous, strong opening with violets that softens quickly into a wonderful, powdery, almond-violet dry-down. If I could describe this perfume with one, concrete word, that'd be "velvet". I love velvet, I love My Queen...

lirael00

Mnesli:

This is long lasting, sweet and powdery. It's very peppery in the beginning too. You can smell violet. Of the names you've listed I had Dior Addict and I really liked it, casue I also like stronger perfumes. My bottle of My Queen was quite cheap, so maybe if you get your hands on the one that's on sale it won't be so risky. Hope you'll like it!

mnesli

DEAR FRIENDS PLS HELP ME!
Iwant to buy this parfüme but i can't decide .Every comment is different of the others!I love Black XS,Dior Addict, Shiseido Zen,Miss Dior Le Parfum. Namley sweet and long lasting performance parfumes. So this MQ is suitable for me??? Pls write me. Thanks

lirael00

Yesterday I decided I will wear this fragrance which has already been hiding in my closet for 3 weeks now. Based on other people's reviews I bought it and I liked it from the first spray on my wrist. But I never actually wore it anywhere. So yesterday it was time to show the world this wonderful perfume.
My first mistake was that I was overreacting with spraying. I sprayed it like 10 times on me, just because I really liked it and was having a feeling that it won't last or that the sillage won't be that powerful. Oh, boy it was powerful. It filled the whole bus that I was on, and I begin to wonder if the people there were offended by it. I felt a little sick because it was just too strong and the whole experience was not what I expected. But it was my fault, so.
So today I tried it again. This time I sprayed it one me 2-3 times and what a joy that was! I got compliments (yeah!!!) and it looked like I wasn't offending anyone.
My queen is one of my favourites now. It's a little bit peppery in the beginning but it settles into a delicious sweet violet. It's powdery and sweet and violet, all at the same time, but it creates magic. And the lasting is amazing. Don't get me started about the sillage. If it can fill the whole bus, then you know how strong is. Now I'm looking forward to get my hands on My queen light mist. I'm in love.

mihaela01

This is so soft, delicate and feminine,if I didn t know the designer s name I could swear it belongs to Bvlgari it has the same vibe to me like most of this house s perfumes.A very nice mix of violets and vanilla.Although I am not into soft perfumes I really like this one...

DresdenDoll

My Queen opens with pure parma violets, an instant breath of little purple candies and childhood. It slowly wears away as the powdery sweet blend of heliotrope and iris takes over, which feels very light and airy and feminine, undercut as they are with white flowers, so that what may have been somewhat cloying isn't at all. It's feathery and delicate, with an appropriate amount of greenery and roots to ground it a little, without giving way much to reality - here is no wet flower garden, but a brides bouquet of flowers against the backdrop of iced almonds.
Very pretty, but the parma violet opening is too close to the real thing for me. If you're looking for a purple floral definitely try this one, but for me while I liked it, it wasn't quite wow, just a soft and well-mannered - if well made - floral. Probably a treat for lovers of purple flowers.

ingridp

Great perfume and unique beauty - magical and sexy in such an elegant way, dark but gentle.. Irrational, emotional and unpredictable..
You just have to surrender to it.. Perfect for winter nights, makes me feel like a queen in my own kingdom!

milenamp

Well, well...In my first review for this perfume, I said that a lasting power is weak. I tried this beautiful perfume once more, now when it is almost winter, and it is strange but this time I could smell this elixir on me all day. So I bought it., and I can say this is almost my signature:)
Such a beautiful powder, with soft violet and creamy almond...not to sweet; actually, it is sweet just enough to lift a bit the deepness of this frag.
On the end of story, there is a soft and elegant smell around you, wrapped into majestic patchouli...
Now I can say, this is a Winter Queen !

Angel in the South

This was a very successful blind buy for me due to the reviews on here. I can not add to what MrsLetterO, rickyrebarco and others have already said. If you want a perfume that is truly unique and magical, try this. I love powdery, flowery, almond perfumes and this ticks all the boxes. Not at all old fashioned but one a classic lady would wear. It is not a cloying perfume by any means but a truly wonderful creation by Alexander McQueen and his team. Magnificent.

rickyrebarco

Oh, this is so beautiful, I'm literally wallowing in this gorgeous scent ever since my precious bottle of My Queen arrived. How could I not love a perfume with violets, iris and white florals?

This was a love at first sniff for me, violets at the onset, but with an edge. I don't smell the traditional "almondy" sweet scent that many perfumes have. My Queen has a woody almost bitter almond edge to the topnotes that I really love. It has a peppery scent although there is no pepper in the notes. It's probably ISO-E-Super, which I generally smell as pepper. It is used very well here to give just a bit of edginess to the scent that is really wonderful. It also adds a bit of oomph to the vetiver in the topnotes.

This is not a linear scent; it truly develops. I can smell some of the basenotes from the beginning, like the woods and vetiver. The development to me comes more in bringing in the softer white florals, that are a bit powdery, but not overly so to my nose. And finally, the piece de resistance, the iris! The iris is gorgeous in the final drydown so if you are an iris lover I would give this a try. But it's not a rooty bitter iris, just perfect in my estimation. This is truly a perfume fit for a queen. I've already bought a back-up bottle I loved it so much.

tenshilove

Luxurious Baby powder, lots of violets ,almond and vanilla ,sexy fragrance ,feminine, dark and mysterious, very long lasting amazing fragrance!

KATERINA LABROPOULOU

It is a superb modern perfume very long lasting with a exquisite bottle. I was very pleased with this blind purchase taking in mind the comments of all the friends of Fragrantica. I would suggest Queen is a perfume for winter or even spring evenings, it reminds me of John Galliano's edp. Bravo!! this was a pleasant surprise

The Swedish girl

Another bad blind buy... :,-(

I had such high hopes for this one, since everyone raves about the vanilla, almond, iris, violet, heliotrope...

But all I can smell is a VERY dominating tuberose, (that no one has mentioned?!) pencil shavings (cedar), pepper, rubber, sour Windex and medicinal patchouli.
It smells very plastick-y and sharp as a needle.
Not fluffy or soft in any way, shape or form.
It actually makes me sick to my stomach when I smell it.

MrsLetterO

So I realised today posting on a thread that I am the only fragrantican with My Queen set as their signature. I feel a review is in order. I asked my Mother-in-law to buy me My Queen when it first came out, i own it now and I hope I'll stock pile enough to own it until I am no more. If I could have asked Lee McQueen to make me a fragrance I don't think he could have chosen more perfect notes, nor arranged them any better. Violet Almond Iris Heliotrope Cedar Vanilla and Orange blossom. I am not worthy. With clever blending, dark yet bright, smooth yet peppery. Not too sweet, not too heavy, for me just right, ever changing. When people talk about England, they think, for some unknown reason, of some trad rose soliflore...but this is England. Child of a teacher and a taxi driver that grew up in a council flat and got an O-Level in Art. All I can say is thank you Lee.

milenamp

I think that the name 'My Queen' is not suitable for this perfume; more like 'Concubine', or maybe even 'Geisha'. For Queen, I expect more distance and bit colder smell.
But this is so warm, oriental, sexy, powdery with fresh purple flowers. There is vanilla but in sooo sophisticated way. It is sweet but reasonably, not heavy and fuggy like many perfumes which have sweet note. Reminds me bit on 'Surreal' from Avon, just in opening. Also, there is some elegancy which have Armani and some YSL perfumes.
Anyway, I want it :)

Edit: i'm so sad because the lasting power is so poor..maybe about hour and half. That is a reason I will not buy this perfume :(

djuzz.becuzz

I received a sample of this from a dear fragrantica friend.
This is a nice scent! Nothing extraordinay, nevertheless very pleasant.
Imagine a youthful playground nearby the woods on which sweet powdery Violet is enjoying herself with her closest friends Almond & Vanilla.
Surrounded by some acquaintances that represent Iris, Heliotrope, Musk & White flowers who are playing a game on their own.

antfarm

This smells a lot like Victoria's Secret Heavenly, only cheaper and with a whopping dose of pepper.

Does not meld with my skin at all, but sits on top of it, retaining the nose-burning alcohol blast without any further development.

epicurean

This is very, very pretty, and far more accessible than I had expected from a McQueen perfume. Candied violet and powdery iris are sweetened with generous doses of almond and vanilla. This could have been a sickly mess but for the warm, masculine, woody notes, which in my opinion make the composition a success.

On the right woman (not sure if it's me yet!) this is a subtle 'come hither' scent. It is not overtly sexy, but you will win people over. The sillage is moderate; the longevity is a little disappointing, but for the pittance I paid I have no cause to complain.

evacecilias

Been wanting this for a while...finally mine ! (Thanks Onimoka)
Sprayd me all over and prepared for a deep rich dark violet, but it didn`t appear, mind you I am not dissapointed - thats better.
It is both creamy and powdery - and the start was beautiful but not strong at all.
The violet ,that on me shows as the key note is deep and powdery, but very true,
Accomplied with mosses, musks, patch ,helitrope and vanilla...no wonder it is powdery and smooth.
While its not as dark as I expected, I can easily wear this any time, and both layer it with my other violets..
Ok......to be honest - I do wish it would have been a little darker ; )
lets see if it grows during the wear, they sometimes do.
Lovely frag that like my other violets , will be frequently used !

LaUna

Powdery clean with earthy spice! It's all about violets, iris and heliotrope. Pretty much all other notes are quite involved here as well, esp. vanilla, pepper, patchouli and cedar.
Appealing for powdery floral lovers like myself.
Clean, powdery, spicy, earthy, fresh floral with wear it anytime: day and night no preference.
Kind of serious formal scent, it means business.
Comfortably dries down to violet-vanilla, and it retains its quality composition. Worthwhile investment!
It really does have the meaning behind the name. Well done!

vintage_scent

I must admit I have had to retract my previous review about this one. This is a violet masquerading as a harlot. It is deep and rich, spicy and powdery at the same time. I don't know where the peppery note comes from, but I love it...I only wish there was more of it. I have really grown to love this one.

This is a magnificent combination of rich, velvety deep purple florals with calming creamy almond that keeps it from being to sharp or overpowering. Very gorgeous purple oriental floral, addicting. You have stolen my heart, little masquerading violet queen, I love you!

Stay little valentine stay
Each day is valentines day;)

maelleinrome

For me this fragrance is:
- 34% L'instant magique Guerlain;
- 33% Violet Angel Thierry Mugler;
- 33% Fahrheneit Dior o_O.
I can't decide if I like it or not! I like violet and powdery fragrances, but there's also a weird, masculine, peppery note (maybe is the cedar+patchouli+vetiver?) that ruins a little bit the drydown, at least on my skin.

lat

Baby powder, musk, almond, vanilla and lots of violets and violets are divine! A bit of patchouli and heliotrope - lovely!

gwendolyn555

Wow extraordinary fragrance. Very mysterious. It's not too loud but at the same time it announces its presence. Sillage is good and maintains its structure. A beautiful symphony of ingredients.

marsiesmoon

Beautiful Bottle and the fragrance itself is nice.It alternated on me during the day between something resembling Laurence Dumont Vanille Violette and an Orangey musk scent that kept showing up now and then.My love, loves!

Pasaka

This smell is absolutely gorgeous. It's very clean, dark yet feminine. I don't know why but this smell reminds me much of Paul Smith's 'Extreme woman', maybe not that papery. As for the bottle, it's very interesting and elegant. However I don't like the fact that there's no lid on this fragrance.

kuanyin4

I wore this today and thankfully, I didn't do my usual second spraying! This could easily be overdone by someone like me who figures more is more. It was just perfect, the smell of perfume and hours later when I thought it was gone, there it was again, gently wafting. I usually wear vintage or classics, and I don't want to disdain modern scents, it is just that they usually don't smell as good to me. I hate that plasticky, chemical note I get with so many and I'm so glad it was not there with this one. Kingdom was not a winner for me, fortunately I only bought a test vial of it. My Queen is glorious and I'm glad I bought a big bottle of it. Who says you aren't supposed to blind buy?

annetw

Blind bought this and bunch of other scents online.. (I know, people shouldn't, but it's so nice to be surprised!)

Package arrived today, what a treat!
Wore this today and thankfully I really seem to like it :)

Didn't seem to stay that long however. So longevity-wise I wasn't very pleased. Will wear it more often for sure, perhaps my nose was a little off today?

Juma

As a violet lover I wanted to test it so long...
It is violet scent but I am a bit dissapointed.
I believe that some of you, will love it.

If I compare it with my other violet scents:

No freshness of Paris Enchantees Roses
No sweetness of Lolita Lempicka
No deepness of Lalique Le Baiser
No naughtiness of Guerlains Insolence

If I qualify it, I would say it's very earthy(iris) and powdery (almonds), without florals and white floral characteristics.

Zury

What a wonderful parfume and long lasting too. I simply love it.

I've recently come to the realisation that I adore violet scents, especially when they're obscure or complex. My Queen is the kind of floral that I enjoy wearing, especially on a cold night.

I was not overly thrilled with the opening, which struck me as being rather medicinal and synthetic. It reminded me too much of a doctor's surgery with the scent of pink antiseptics and rubber gloves. Thankfully these bizarre top notes were short-lived, making way for a much more appealing blend.

The heart has a beautiful, dominant violet accord which is both powdery and green. Heliotrope and almond further compliment the violet, providing a nutty and smooth texture. The overall feeling on the skin is both feminine and sensual.

Alexander McQueen's style is very similar to that of Thierry Mugler. My Queen has that same, otherworldly vibe that can be found in both Angel and Alien. It's weird and I like it.

The drydown is a touch gourmand on my skin, with more almond, musky vanilla and a hint of cedar. My Queen's complexity keeps you guessing. One thing for certain, it'll never be boring. Thankfully, the longevity is good too, so that means hours worth of surprises.

It was sad to hear of Alexander McQueen's passing two years ago, so today I honour his memory by wearing this masterpiece. Everyone who hasn't already tested My Queen, needs to.

fruttella

A mighty rich and overwhelming scent ! At the opening I feel mostly the violets and secondly almonds ( they reminded me of chocolate at the first sniff ) - opening which makes me think of Cat de Luxe by N. Campbell. Then it turn out to smell of Lolita by Lolita Lempicka - because of the vanilla but adding an extra cleanliness smell as of an expensive soap. I "blame" the white flowers and white musk for that. These two are what makes the fragrance so unique for me. And at the base it has 3 of my favourite perfume ingredients - patchoili, vetriver and cedar. I adore the perfume from its middle to base notes.

Powerful!!!

Amazing, Sophisticated and ...Dark...

I love this one and it is one of my favourites for fall/winter.

Lovely scent of violets, almonds, musk and powder. very warm but dark at the same time, mysterious and magical. It is like being naked and walking through the dark, unknown forrest at night ....
This perfume definitely awakens my imagination .

Also, it has that very feminine and sexy note- I think it may be iris - it is like a bit of powder and lipstic fragrance topped with vanilla cloud ...sexy!!!

the bottle is beautiful- purple like violets and also purple is my favourite colour.

Hairytrees1

This is a gorgeous and unique fragrance. I like to spray it all over my cardigan, then when I wear it later on in the evening, I get a warm almondy-powdery-incense-vanilla scent that is just heavenly!

CocoLaurent

I adore this! I also love the light mist version which I bough first, but this comes in a larger size which I prefer.
It smells a little bit like powdery parma violet sweets but is ulta feminine and soft.
Great perfume.

rdickey

I love Creed Tabarome and this smells just like it, except softer and more feminine. I love it!

My Queen "VS" She Wood. Very similar, initially, and enjoy both of them. MQ is "Deeper/Darker; SW is Lighter/Brighter. Would be inclined to wear MQ in the evening/winter. SW in the summer/daytime. Drydown on MQ morphs into something more complex and interesting. SW stays linear and lighter in feel. Love them both.

PricklyAndHot

Not too powdery and a little bit sharp charming floral fragrance.

The leading note in the fragrance is the violet note, which make this fragrance more mysterious. Maybe I would say that the violet note in this fragrance is the best violet note in perfumes for me. The iris note is also noticeable and makes the violet note more deep and velvet. The heliotrope and the vanilla notes make this fragrance sweet enough, but not too sweet. And luckily the musk note doesn't make this fragrance too powdery.

I like this fragrance. It's interesting and unusual enough.

tuturab

My Queen - love love love!

Queen of her castle.. Warm yet distant, mysterious and intriguing. Just like the Queen, she doesn't have to say it loud but you hear her! She has presence!

Very grand, graceful and dignified!!

Eicher

This scent is a pretty mature one. To me, it does not remind me Lolita Lempicka at all.
I like it very much though, but would wear it only in autumn/winter time and preferably in the evening. To me, it is warm, oriental and spicy. Definitely 30+.

Pari88

After recently fallaing in love with TM's Angel after hating it for so many years, I began to crave a few other fragrances, one of them being this one. They share similarities with the strong Patchouli notes. My Queen is sort of dark but otherworldly. Just as Angel, it makes me feel untouchable and of course ethereal. It does not have crazy overwhelming silliage as most "heavy" perfumes do. But it has a cold airiness to it just as Angel, just as Dior Midnight Poison, just as Ghost Deep Night, and just as YSL Elle. This, along with the others mentioned would be my idea of the perfect Ethereal fragrance. My Queen leaves me with an enchanting aura rather then a cuddly or sexy skin scent, or a tigress of a perfume that can be smelled from feet away. The difference between this one and the otheres forementioned is that the Patchouli here mixes with a green cold violet, powdery iris and helliotrope so lovely. It too, also has a metallic or plastic note...something reminiscent of a Queen that is not of Earth but of a different galaxy.

mister_chaz

This is a pretty powdery violet, softened by creamy vanilla; I also smell almonds and some musk. My Queen is a violet-scented "skin scent" type fragrance: cozy, pretty, but also discreet and shy. Not bad.

nikitajade

I tried this fragrance again, as so many people love it and I thought I was missing something. So I spray it hesitantly on my wrist, and all I can smell is Cabbage Patch Doll or Love's Baby Soft (which I ADORED, in the 5th grade) I love the fantasy of McQueen's clothes, but I just can't get into any of his perfumes.

pansylady

Lovely fragrance- in the same genre as Aimez-Moi, minus the sharp piquancy of the top notes-

The violet/iris/almond combination is just delightful-
I thought that I detected a bit of anise, too-

It seemed that the fragrance moved quickly from top and mid notes to the dry-down, which I can only smell when I bring my arm right up to my nose- it is a heavenly powdery floral skin scent, with just the right amount of vanilla-

Maybe this is Lolita Lempicka's younger, more introverted sister-

I wish it had a bit more sillage- then it would be a perfect 10!

teddybear

This perfume is wonderful!!So sensual....so dark...so gothic :o)!!!My favorite color is purple and I must say that this scent is so PURPLE!!A little bit spicy, almondy, and flowery.Very unique fragrance!!

Mellyhelly

I liked this when it came out and I still enjoy.
It's a modern fragrance that features at least some real note i.e. floral.
It smells sweet without being sickening, girlish but elegant, sensual intense but not projecting 5 meters.
For me it was one of the most wearable and pleasant scents of those years. I can wear it now without a problem. Not one of my big loves, but surely a strong like. I like it because it smells like violets but not candied violets. I like it because the drydown is soft and warm woody but not harsh synthetical woody.
The bottle is also very beautiful.

Gosha

Is My Queen wonderful, mysterious and seductive as they say in the description above? YES, she is! The scent is womanly, deliciously sweet, powdery, lovely floral with underlying earthiness and just a touch of darkness (I fully understand the references to "medieval" here). Frivolous, yet sultry, My Queen is also dignified...and... oh, it is so very purple! :-) I love the colour, love the mix of those purple flowers, the overall impression - indeed - is that of a beautiful, little self-centred lady. Impulsive, a little spoiled and maybe rather moody, even a bit maligned, I would say, but really, she is giving, she is kind and she is good at heart. This is certainly a fragrance for a queen, not for a little princess. (And no, it has nothing to do with age!).:-)

No other fragrance has ever granted me so many compliments by women and men!

stella by starlight

nice perfume. to my nose its a milder and a more succesful & gentle variation of rykiel woman which is also a child of ann flipo.

Upon spritzing, my immediate reaction to MY QUEEN was: "How many of these light woody florientals have been produced on behalf of clothing designers over the past couple of decades?" I'd venture to guess that the number lies in the dozens, but it may even be hundreds...

Yes, the story of MY QUEEN seemed initially to be the same old hum-drum refrain: slightly sweet wood blended in with "abstract florals". However, as it developed a bit, I suddenly remembered what this one reminded me of, in particular: Trussardi JEANS. What marks both MY QUEEN and JEANS off from the rest of the crowd, is the inclusion of liatrix, or so it seems. They both also contain violet, but probably the most significant link is...drum roll...(I can report after having returned from a fact-finding mission): Anne Flipo designed both! Dominique Ropion is said to have had a hand in this creation as well, but the similarity to JEANS makes me think that Anne Flipo was really calling the shots.

The liatrix (tobacco-esque) note is far more pronounced in JEANS than in MY QUEEN, but combined with the violet, I cannot really deny the appeal of this composition. I'll buy a bottle not because I find it unique (it's not), but because I love JEANS! Give me violet and liatrix any day. Thank you again, Anne Flipo!

I've got my little 'My Queen sample set' today (for a foolishly low price - 2 Euros for 5 ml EDP roll-on, 10 ml shower gel and 10 ml body lotion:)) and I'm quite impressed. I can't say I love it but like it very much. This is a multifaceted little thing, changing a lot with time. I agree, at first a bit sharp and almost masculine, spicy, later softer, creamier. On my skin and according to my nose it has a lot in common with Jil Sander Jil (first half hour), Jil Sander Style and Guerlain L'Instant Magic (second phase), and - I was very pleasantly surprised to feel it - Diptyque Eau Duelle and Prada Infusion d'Iris (after 4-5 hour). According to the card it's with mandragore root (I don't know how it smells but I'm falling for it). Has great longevity and medium sillage. I'll use my samples with a smile:)...

id

Sharp a bit masculine at the opening. I feel cedar, something like mint or basil. Not what I've expected at all. It turns into soft scent after 3 hours on my skin. Vanilla and musk can be considered to be nice,
but still not enough exceptional (e.g. like "Kingdom") to be bought. And test before buying if you don't like almonds in fragrances.

vanillabean23

Very luscious, powerful and lasts forever and ever! It starts out with a blast of powdery sweet almond, stays that way for a while, and becomes 'darker' thanks to what I think smells like black pepper. When my skin heats up, that's when it My Queen really shines! It settles into a gorgeous musky, patchouli patch with a hint of vanilla! Very glamorous, sexy and unusual. I don't get a hint of violet in this one. Maybe it's my nose?!

Bandit

Thanks to My Queen for the realization, that I hate violets. If you do, too, don't bother even to sample. It's unbareable violety.

Cheryl5406

I owned this for about 10 minutes - thats how long it took me to toss it in my donate-before-my-husband-finds-out-I-bought-another-stinker bag. This is OMG horrible. I just don't get it...

MyQueen.

I LOVE IT.

PlunketNurse

A very lovely powdery violet based fragrance, the bottle and box is simply enchanting, As the violet and bitter almond exudes their prominence delicately, the lovely creamy vetiver blends dives into the VERY powdery orris and white musk. Oh i would have loved you MY QUEEN, unfortunately, my blasted acidic chemistry turns a note into a cumin one... Thus it has a distinct 'curried' smell to it..I was so hoping that it was just me, but nope i walked into the room and my parents started laughing and asked why do i smell like i ve been to an 'indian wedding'. For now, i ll leave this wonderful bottled curry powder scent alone.

olga1780

Although My Queen has its own unique personality, for me it became a wonderful substitute for Jasmin Noir ( which i finally sold on Ebay after numerous futile attemts of straining my nose to catch whiffs of non-exsisting sillage). I think the almond note gives it somewhat similar edge, but the combination of sweet violets and almonds is actually more intriguing and beautiful to my nose. And plus My Queen has it all: originality, sillage and exceptional lasting power on my skin (after 3 hours still smells like freshly spraye0d

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. I don't know why I waited to order this??? I love it.

Norgirl

Feminin , violets whit a twist
this is actualy quite good . the opening whit violetts and almonds , is alittle weard on me .like the almonds is a bit bitter and the violett very sweet. hm.. but not bad at all, The Orang blosoms and whit blossoms is gental and nice , leading the way to the Heliotrop , this fase is so delisioc to me , the heliotrop and the orangsblossoms is very good togehter imo , Creamy cherry marchipan and the musk stopp it just in time so its not to sweet.
the orris , patcholie and vanilla makes it warm and cosy , the starting notes still linger a long time into the heart and bottom fase one me , makes it a beautiful base, and the vetiver and cedar closes it off so nice .
this to me is a queen , i feel like wearing purpel Velvet , My mood goes soft and gental . almost like a priestes. If you are familiar whit the tarot cards , this would be the High Priestes ,or Empress. Loving, gental and wise. like it

Puppe

In my opinion, this perfume is a feminine version of Dior homme. I like it, it has a good price and a great lasting power!

treenhe

ermmm....not much to say about this one, except it seems very sweet and it just reminds me of (i would swear to it being, if i was blindfolded) lou lou by cacherel. it sits on my cabinet looking at me and so far, everything else seems more wearable. i think it's because lou lou was everywhere when i was a teen and i couldn't make my mind up about that either. beautiful bottle. ONE day i will give it a serious try.

LydiaLiu

Gorgeous scent! It deserves the name "My Queen". It's noble, luxury, sexy, attractive, strong, independent, classic and meanwhile fashionable. I've run out my sample, and now I'm longing for a bottle, very good for winter use.

The bottle catches the eye, I don't really understand the real meaning behind the design, anyhow it makes me fancy a queen's crown, and the color rocks!

LIN

WOW! I realy didn't expect to get such a wonderful perfume!
I bought it blind without smelling it first, and somehow i thought that i made a mistake, but ones i sprayed it, it was love of first sight!
Amaizing white flowers frag, lasting power is great!

lilou

I love this perfume ! Very feminine and seductive, it's a kind of magic. And now it's too difficult to find it : beautiful and mysterious things are always hard to find...

naheed

This is my second experience with this line and I can say I absolutely love it. First Kingdom and now My Queen and what similarity I find in them both is the bitter note that echoes from the floral accord of notes and this makes it smell great on the skin.

I find My queen milky and creamy after an hour when the heart settles down. Here the accord of floral notes smells wonderful and I detect a bit bitter note here which makes the heart so bright, maybe this echo of this bitter note comes from almonds. The dry down is very classy and opulent and becomes a little powdery from creamy. After a fragrance is sprayed on, I always wait for the base notes to settle down as this is where the tip and the heart joins in and you can give your verdict about a fragrance.

Fragrance on the whole: Classy and opulent
Silage: Very good
Longevity: Excellent , but it's winter time around here so would like to see its longevity in the summer as well.

System_d: thank you so much for the decant of this beauty:)

Pasionaria

I like very much this luxury, brilliant and gourgeous fragrance!

icekat

MY QUEEN is like a beautiful young lady at the high society ball. First she enters it as pretty and innocent, then she turns sweet and seductive, all of a sudden she pulls away and becomes distant and dreamy and finally she just decides to be herself and quietly dances for the rest of the night with the man she loves. I enjoy so much how this beautiful fragrance reflects different moods and emotions with multistage notes development approach.

MY QUEEN starts with gentle violets. They are beautiful and fresh. There is an innocent feeling I get in the opening that I just love.
The sweet notes start surfacing pretty quickly. The heliotrope and white musk are prominent in the heart notes and very gourmand to me. The combo is rather strong and sweet but beautiful at the same time. The heliotrope cools off after a while and at that time I get more white flowers and so gorgeous white musk.
The patchouli appears next and it is quite noticeable with its earthy woody scent. The vetiver and woods add almost foggy and mysterious feeling at that stage. At this point the sweetness only lingers in the background and the perfume turns very ethereal and dreamy.
The iris and vanilla are the final stages. The finale gets a bit powdery but it is not a baby powder to me. It is more sophisticated iris scent with a bit of layered vanilla. It is very close to the skin and light but very nice and comforting.

This is absolutely my type of a scent. It works beautiful with my skin. I love all four stages. Its slight floral gourmand quality is delicious in the middle. The dreamy part with patchouli and vetiver is an awesome twist. The transformation into vanilla woody scent on the dry down is gorgeous.
I do agree with other reviewers that sillage is not strong but the longevity is quite great (8 hours). I would definitely recommend this scent if you enjoy sweet almost gourmand florals that do not become sugar coated but retain their nice floral quality.

Sloshpot

Got a big old bottle of this from tk maxx for dirt cheap. had no idea what is smelled like but it was a bargain so i though why not. In short i found it terribly boring. not bad.. but not good either.. oh, and it lasts about 2 minutes on your skin.. even when u douse yourself in the stuff. Dont want to speak ill of the dead.. (RIP Alexander) but not sure what he was thinking with this one. anyway, i flogged it on ebay and made a profit! woo hoo

Sissi

My Queen is a prime example of a powdery purple floral but it has a misfortune
to fade from my skin it opens with an powdery note of violet it's sort of a reminiscence to kenzo flower but more
milder and diluted and doesn't cloy
dries with an nutty fringe of almonds
heliotrope makes it milky and a bit soft
but i'm not noticing any orange blossom
then dark musk dries the middle with an
animalistic qualities,

the drydown turns powdery again with iris with it's earthy accord in a lot of
perfumes i don't detect patchouli but
in My Queen i can smell a good deal
and doesn't overwhelm me and it ends
with dry vanilla.

My Queen it's hard to say that it's a
above average or an average scent it
advertises as a supreme darkly regal
scent but to me it's a weak scent
tries to be unique but it fails so
i give it a 3.

sistertricked

I like the smell, at first it seemed to be like Chanel Allure with a violet accent. It did seem so at first, but on second wearing there was something so baby powderish, so delicate under a spell of violets, that I had to re-classify my experience. Sooooo cute, so deep sniff worthy, and the base, so creamy with vanilla, powdery tonka and heliotrope. I have never lived a perfume with my guts before. I keep sniffing and the smells fills me down to my stomach and that's when I am left wanting for more. Really no perfume did that to me before. Actually, I feel like I'm in front of a big white chocolate bar exuding its quintessence. I love it, I want it, now! It is addictive, beware!

TankGirl

(Thank you asilverfire614 for this tester :) )

My Queen in amazing. There is something here that reminds me about my childhood. Yes My Queen is defnatly purple, is fresh but deep, inocent but mysterious, sweet but cold.
I like it a lot, this perfume reminds me about a garden when I used to play that was full of heliotropes and orris flowers.
I'm delightes with it and I belive I'm going to buy a full size bottle.
I think I can pull this out on every time, its perfect for summer and winter, night and way.
I wouldnt say that is the smell of a queen (at least a queen as we imagine) but this could be perfectly the smell of a fairy queen or perhaps the perfume of morgana le fay.
There is something magical about My Queen, something that make you think about Avalon, castles surronded by fog..
I think it can be sexy in a very mysterious, medieval way.
I love it and I think everybody who likes fairy tales should try this one, its great.

Sillage: Gorgeaus
Lasting Power: Very good, last all day

If this was a bit more purple and a bit less peppery, it could be a sister of Galliano EDP. I am still searching for a smell alike of that one actually!!

mymlan

I now understand the luminiscent quality of this beauty that is accentuated in the ads an also in the bottle.

MQ is dark, but also bright. It could be heavy but appears light. There is notes in this perfume that really could be too much on the cloying side: Violet, patchouli, wood etc, but in all it's heaviness it's brightened ut by white flowers and carried by the sweetest and softest cushion of iris, vanilla and musk. Vetiver and cedar balances it from going all sweet though.

It's a great scent. Strangley it reminds me a lot of Tom Fords BO (strangely, because there is only a few similar notes) but the patchouli in MQ is much more wearable. Actually it's delicate. My Queen is jumping straight up on my want list.

Telu

To me My Queen is very disappointing. At first it smells interesting but evolves soon into a very sharp, masculine scent.
Not, at all royal!

Mimmi

Since this to my nose is a relative to Jolie Madam, Im now testing My Queen with one on each wrist.
At first, the Queens violet is paler compared to the Madames lusher deeper flower. The next notes come out comfusingly similar on my skin. Then the leather comes on stronger in the Queen, only there isnt supposed to be any here. Madame remains more flowery on its leatherbase and has a stronger sillage while the Queen transformation is supported by a pinch of vanilla and the patchouly. My Queen is less sweet, or is it just my perception of another nuance? It has a more powdery quality because of the noticable iris, and the vanilla in the last stage makes a final difference.
Although violet usually is not my best note, My Queen really fascinates me throughout the day with its complex composition. There is a reason why this scent is not called Princess, and its not only due to the designers name.
Medium/low sillage, very good lastingpower.

Moyra

This is olfactory loveliness, another elegant, superbly blended creation in which one of my favorite all-time "noses", Dominique Ropion, had a lot to say.
Take a look at what Dominique Ropion concocted, and you will see that My Queen has quite the pedigree, which in this case, truly made for amazing, ultra feminine violets and heliotrope magic.
Note on other reviews I have enjoyed reading here re My Queen:
There's no aldehydic overload, if its in there, its exceptionally well-blended so as to be an intrinsic part pf the olfactory symphony (rare in aldehydes!)
Additionally, I don't know why one would apply the word "powdery" to My Queen, but then Iris can turn to powder on some chemistries. I am definitely un-fond of the "powdery" note in perfumes, and cannot detect it at all on my skin.

This was truly love at first sniff, definitely full bottle worthy and emphatically an 8.5 out of 10.

LadiesRed

A perfume I was intrigued by but slightly disappointed.

The scent came out with more alcohol than any other note on my skin with very faint hints of floral or sweet notes.

Perhaps my perfume was old which resulted in this disappointing result.

Annah7

This perfume is amazing. Truly beautiful fragrance and bottle. At the beginning reminded me a quite a lot of Bvlgari Black. Now a bit less. Warm and sensual.
After a few hours I could still smell it quite strong on my clothes, however on my skin there was mostly vanilla.

taylor

i love this! light, mystical and quite cold. a little sweetness but not gourmand.
it´s both romantic and unique, beautiful perfume.

eilismaireg

Thought I'd love this but it's not in the gothic mould at all, reminds me of cacharel's LouLou which reminds me of being a teenager. Bit too sweet and cloying for me now.

sky76sky

Baby-powder soft & fluffy scent made of sweet vanilla-almond air & a breath of iris & violet with a lightly spicy undertone that adds interest & strength.

Gentle, calming, light.....the colour for me is linked to the lightest facets of the bottle, the scent of the palest violet. It somehow avoids being girly or twee - it is more a ghost fragrance without actually being dark or disturbing.

One to try if you love heliotropes & baby powder, or enjoy Trussardi Inside (minus the coffee/nut aspects) & Kenzo Amour (without the strength & clarity).

Oh Sugar

Soothing, calming, creamy... Beautiful. I think it can be both going-out and a daytime perfume. A well-balanced composition of flowers, some spicy notes and vanilla, not tiring at all, simply gorgeous. McQueen keeps amazing me!

glitteralex

Interestingly, the top notes-orange melded with sweet voilet- of this complex fragrance last but a few minutes. Shortly thereafter marches in a scentiment of almost palapable warmth and sweetness, quickly followed by yet another morph.... while none of the mentioned white flowers make a notable appearance, I do get the pencil-shaving combination of orange blossom, vanilla, musk, and iris. A flat iris is the main player in this scent. The iris seems almost absorptive of all the other notes...despite such strong components, MyQueen whispers rather than shouts.

The third realm of scent-patchouli, cedar, and vetiver- comes in at 20-30 minutes. The drydown is primarily Iris, with only a dry, somber vanilla as its companion. Frankly, I think this perfume could have used the roundness of the vanilla and patchouli much better than it has. Sillage is poor, but longevity very good at 5-7 hours.

I found this scent much more compelling in the wet part of the winter than I do now in the dry heat of summer.

Adriana_87

I dont like it at all,to me it smells just like Guerlain Insolence..(i hate that frag)But my queen is just lighter and softer.Nothing special about it,nothing for a queen...

MaBu

Really wonderfull and alluring scent! Perfect for cold weather with a leather jacket. Violets and pepper make solo at the begining, then I feel some delicate suede (maybe iris-vanolla-patchouli combination?) Smell expensive and even royal.

shelpen

It is surprisingly light - surprisingly coming from McQueen!
On me My Queen is lightly peppered violets with hint of vanilla. No white flowers, heliotrope or cedar. Quite ordinary and, dare I say, boring.

baby_Jane

Wiht My Queen - You a The Queen. majestic, warm, sexy

BethAshley

I purchased this fragrance untested because I love many of the notes. It is a sweet, feminine, powdery scent - which was what I was expecting. The unfortunate surprise for me is that it is so light. I was hoping for something that had a little more drama coming from an edgy designer like Alexander McQueen. When I think of royalty I assume a little more presence.

Overall the Violet, Iris and Vanilla notes dominate. The cedar is undetectable and the almond stays quietly in the background. The dry down is a vanilla/baby powder scent.

For me the best word I can think of to describe this fragrance is "Pretty" Something pretty is very suitable for many occasions - I am sure I will use this fragrance up fairly quickly.

chocolat

Lovely, sweet violet-iris-vanilla scent.Starts a little flowery and bold, develops into warm, sweet-vanilla without being heavy.Wonderful for evening. Autumn and winter scent (i'll have to keep few drops to try during spring/summer).

Malegria

I tried it and I like it - not as much s Kingdom though. It reminded me of several different scents - particularly of Kenzo Flower - the same violets and smokey, sultry dry down.It goes well with it`s name - there is certain seriousness and royalty about it.At first, it`s coming on strong and flowery, irises and violets mostly - I don`t detect any fleur d`orange though it would`ve been nice, to spice up the violet domination. Later it dries down in a very womanly kind of way - vanilla and powder...The queen removes her crown and becomes a woman.

loveperfumes

It is one of the most complicated scents that entered my life, I would say, illegally...In 2005 I happened to witness the promotion campaign in the big mall and was given generously perfumed blotter. My first reaction was ‘not my type’ to the extent that I put it on ‘never ever try again’ list, so disturbing, hostile, scaring the scent seemed to me.

Then 2 years later I was walking after my colleague at the office and got really intrigued by her perfume, the sillage was very interesting. When she revealed MQ, I was more than surprised. Soon I bought it, but our relations were first at the distance.

Gothic flowers with thorns, obscure beauty, a reflection of a restless contradictory soul, disturbing dark grandeur, the medieval world...

In general I don’t fall for the scents like this and Addict CD seems gloomy to me. However, this scent is an exception of the kind, I was slowly and surely coming under its spell, as there is an extraordinary development in it.

At the beginning in the web of light and shadow, the shadow definitely prevails and scares away with the “thorns” – severe violet and almond which are dominating for quite a long time. Then, their dark passion starts calming down and it unexpectedly turns out that the Queen does have a warm heart. The orange blossom note with the Co. start running the show leaving the “thorns” behind as a subtle reminder of the previous long dark overture. The symphony dramaturgy is gradually changing. Finally, it develops into the triumph of warmth and light through a really slow but surprising transformation. This stage is worth waiting, it takes at least one hour on my skin. Then, I can’t stop smelling my wrist, so fascinating, warm and glamorous the scent becomes….

p.s. Sometimes I wear it in the office just to put on some distant glamour.

p.p.s. Now I've been wearing it for years, I can say that it's 4 spritz that bring me compliments not 1 or 2. :)

as i first smelled it i found it beautiful because it combines many different ingredients in a harmonic way so i bought it at once..when using it though i found out that the sense of almonds and violets is overpowering and makes it too strong for my tastes, while i don't find the warm sense of vanilla which i thought it would have.. so i gave it to my mother who finds it very good and i realised that it suits better to older women.

It´s true, this scent does have 4 notes instead of 3. It´s fun, you keep sniffing your arm, and it constantly changes. This is the kind of perfume, that you should not judge based on the first sniff (topnotes).

The violets are very dominant at the first, and it made me feel like I´m walking on a mysterious garden, with a tender state of mind.
Although I don´t normally care much of violets in fragrances, they were nice in this one.

About 1/2h later the scent became as it was described: pure scent of orange, white musk, heliotrope, and white flowers. I would say that there is also a pretty dominant vanilla accourd all the way trough.

It slowly changes in to a very sensual and feminine warm scent, that smelled like it was described: iris and vanilla.

If you don´t like violets and vanilla, this might not be the scent for you..but if you do I highly recommend this one!

Its a very unique fragrance, that will feed your imagination!

nice to hear that you are happy with the fragrance aeternitas. i like the sound of 'aura of royalty and mystery'. i am intrigued now. :)

Aeternitas

Yes! My bottle finally came today :) It's so beautiful, both the bottle and the fragrance. Just like I remembered it from the sample and still much like in my previous review for it... I'm very satisfied. This perfume is absolutely gorgeous. Warm, full of vanilla, flowery, but dark. It wraps you up in an aura of royalty and mystery. The vanilla lingers for quite an amount of time. I am ordering Alexander McQueen's Kingdom today as well :)

Aeternitas

This one's gonna be my next buy, along with Diesel :) I've been dying for this fragrance because it's not sold in any stores around me that I know of. It's so warm, mysterious, and sensual; almost decadent. I find that the dark purple color of the bottle represents it well as a royal, gorgeous, feminine fragrance. For those looking for an enigmatic, mystical scent, this is it!
