Situated in Normandy, between Rouen and Le Havre, close to the Seine, Lillebonne has the privilege of welcoming its visitors in a built environment still having buildings shaped by 2000 years of human activities... Ancient theater, medieval castle, Gothic church, Industrial Revolution Building, Contemporary Town Hall, Habitats with Varied Styles and Materials...
The topography of the site, blending hills, valleys, rivers and alluvial plain, has enabled the emergence, throughout history, of multiple poles of growth. Unceasingly open to the world since its foundation, the city flourished with imported and processed products; Tin in Antiquity, cotton in the nineteenth century, oil today. In Lillebonne, if we have been building for 2000 years, we have at the same time a long tradition of welcome and exchange.
Creation of the Romanes in the first century, Juliobona, the ancient Lillebonne, becoming a port on the Channel and provincial capital embellishes rich houses and sumptuous equipments, like the theater, thermal baths or fountains, The archaeologists continue to exhume and whose aspect they can now restore to us.
Ruined during the barbarian invasions, the city subsists and is reborn in the Middle Ages. It will then be endowed with one of the most powerful fortresses of William the Conqueror, further enlarged by Philip Augustus. Over the centuries, agricultural and manufacturing prosperity enabled the various parishes, which would make up the future modern city, to erect numerous buildings such as the Notre-Dame church, the Mesnil chapel or the Catillon manor.
Today, at the center of an international industrial center, the city continues to develop and enhance its built heritage.
- The Juliobonales, Gallo-Roman festival of Lillebonne:
- In order to revive and enhance its rich Gallo-Roman heritage, the City of Lillebonne organizes in June, Les Juliobonales, a festive and convivial event not to be missed under any pretext.
- Together, young and old, let us go back in time and stop in the first centuries of our era, in a city named Juliobona (Lillebonne). At that time, Gaul and the Pays de Caux were under the domination of the Roman Empire. The construction of the Roman theater continues and will be completed in the 3rd century. It is used for theatrical performances but also for hunting wild animals, gladiator fights, public executions...
- No cruelty during the Juliobonales, but many rejoicings in perspective. During three days, you will be able to immerse yourself in the daily life of the ancient city and to put on the garments of a gladiator, a legionnaire or a vestal...
- Juliobona will live according to Gallo-Roman customs and customs. Animations will be organized in and around the theater, in the city center and in some public buildings. Historical reconstructions, shows, exhibitions, conferences, guided tours, cooking and pottery workshops, handicraft sales, projection of historical fictions... are scheduled.

Mes Souliers Sont Rouges
- On 17 may 2024
- Place Pierre de Coubertin, Théâtre Juliobona
- There's no stopping Mes Souliers sont Rouges from marching forward, never with both feet in the same shoes ! Always quick to break new ground, they reinvent themselves with original compositions and songs written to measure for their 8th album, which seals the renewal of the group already well underway since 2018. - While the instruments remain traditional, there are plenty of surprises in store ! Like the accordion, which leans more towards Cajun sounds, or the uilleann pipes, the Irish bagpipes, sometimes heartbreaking in the introduction to "Suite Kennedy", sometimes nervous and indomitable on "La Demoiselle", a song written by Florent Vintrignier (La Rue Ketanou). Agility rivals the precision of the arrangements when it comes to delivering all the finesse of the lyrics by Marion Cousineau, who wrote 4 of the songs on the album herself ! - With 30 years on the clock, this alternative folk phenomenon is still going strong ! - ? Vocals, double bass, guitar and percussion : Deny LeFrançois - ? Vocals, guitar, banjolélé : Enflam Labeyrie - ? Vocals, mandolin, guitar, podorythmy, triangle : Gullivan - ?
