Solar power helps Niger’s capital keep power cuts at bay

A new solar power plant has been changing the lives of many people in Niger’s capital city Niamey by reducing the number of power cuts. The plant is the country’s response to ECOWAS sanctions that cut electricity supplies from Nigeria, Niger’s main supplier, and comes as a relief after about five months of economic recession in the country.
