DENVER -- The Detroit Pistons could be without backup swingman Cartier Martin for their season opener against the Denver Nuggets tonight (9 p.m., FSD).

The free agent pickup is listed as questionable with a plantar fascia strain in his right foot.

"He did not go through stuff in the walkthrough today," Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said this afternoon. "I'll leave the status to (director of sports medicine Jon Ishop), but I think questionable, at best."

Right now, the plan is for Jodie Meeks, sidelined by a back injury, and Luigi Datome to be on the Pistons' inactive list. But if Martin can't go, Datome will be activated.

Greg Monroe, serving a two-game suspension for a DUI conviction, is on the active roster. League rules dictate that, for punishments of fewer than five games, suspended players must be on the active roster.

This will be the first game of the Van Gundy era. He was asked whether he's "pumped up."

"I generally don't have a problem getting pumped up, so yeah," he said.
