Chinese hydrangea vine, Decumaria sinensis, is a rarely grown woody evergreen climber, native to China. It has glossy, dark green leaves, from which masses of small yellow-white, fragrant flowers appear in May. Growing by aerial roots, there’s no need to tie plants to a frame.

Grow Decumaria sinensis in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade, preferably against a south-or west-facing wall to protect from cold winds. Not fully hardy, you may need to offer winter protection.
