Olearia macrodonta or New Zealand Holly is a medium-sized evergreen shrub or small tree with ovate, spiny-toothed, grey-green foliage up to 9cm in length, that has white-felted undersides.
In summer it bears small, fragrant, daisy-like white flowers are borne in large corymbs that can completely cover the entire plant making a spectacular display.
These are attractive shrubs creating plenty of summer floral colour, albeit white.
They make very good hedges and windbreaks, especially in coastal situations.
