Ingres and His Patrons at Chantilly

Exhibitions devoted to Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres (1780-1867) do not come along very often. The prospect of this one, organized at the Chantilly Domain where five major paintings by the artist are held, is therefore a welcome addition. Yet the result is a mixed bag.
