Love Is Blind has been must-see television from the start, but the sixth season of the Netflix reality dating show has taken on a life of its own. The words EpiPen, Megan Fox, and bean dip may not mean much to the uninitiated, but for fans of the show, it has become LIB lore, forever immortalized in tweets and TikToks.
Jessica Vestal's internet-breaking moment happened early in the show. The young single mother from Charlotte, North Carolina, ended up getting her heart broken in the pods by castmate Jimmy Presnell during their final date. Face beat, waves flowing, and dressed to kill, Vestal delivered the scathing EpiPen diss heard ’round the world. As she expertly navigated the breakup with Presnell and cried her eyes out in the women’s living quarters, Vestal's makeup didn't budge an inch.

“I was actually surprised to see my makeup did not move on the show; that's one thing I would give myself,” Vestal says with a laugh. “My makeup, no matter what I was going through, did not move. I was fighting in battle and my makeup was exactly the way I wanted it to be.”
Vestal has quickly become a fan favorite, not only for her witty sense of humor but also for her impeccable glam. “Aside from ‘What made you fall in love with Jimmy?’ my lip color is the number one thing I get asked,” she says. “I wore the same lip combo the whole show, no matter what scene I'm in.”
Not one to keep beauty secrets (“The girls do need to know and I will never gatekeep on them”), Vestal graciously shared her lip combo with Glamour.
“You are going to be the first to hear,” she says. “That lip color was the Dior Addict Lipstick in shade 422, the lip liner was the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk in the Medium, and the gloss is what makes it, but it's a splurge: the Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss in Bourgeoisie.”

With all the newfound attention, Vestal is trying to stay grounded the best ways she knows how. But she admits it's been overwhelming. “We all knew our lives would change a little bit when the show came out,” she says, “but I don't think any of us imagined it would be to this extent, to the point where you can't really go anywhere or do anything without feeling like people are talking about it. I don't mean that in an arrogant way. Just that right now it’s like we're sitting on the surface of the sun and everything's really hot.”
Not that she regrets any of it. Despite her heartbreak, Vestal believes the experiment was for the best. “It was a wonderful experience,” she adds. “I would do it again 10 times over for sure.”
Ahead, Jess from Love Is Blind talks dating as a single mother, sisterhood among the female cast members, and what actually makes a “girl's girl”—plus her favorite skin care, makeup, and hair products.
Glamour: Episodes are dropping and people online are voicing their opinions. How are you taking care of your mental health right now?
Jessica Vestal: I try to have some kind of physical activity every day, whether that be weightlifting or a solid core class. Obviously, I have Autumn, and she keeps me very active. I'm also trying to incorporate therapy back into my regimen, which is invaluable. Typically, self-care for me means facials and massages, so I'm trying to incorporate those things back in slowly.
Autumn wasn’t on the show, but she’s low-key been a star.
Yes, she is. High-key. She's the star.
You love a Sephora trip together on TikTok. Is she a Drunk Elephant kid?
She will be so, so, so happy that you asked me that. Autumn is a girly girl. She loves all things beauty, and she is a self-proclaimed Sephora kid. She does love Drunk Elephant. She loves Glow Recipe, all the trendy things. But she's not the typical kid in Sephora and Ulta that has no manners, no couth, just going around sampling things and barking orders at the people that work there.
A Sephora or an Ulta run is a weekly thing for us. It's one of our things we do for bonding. Even if we're not going in there to buy anything, we're just girly girls. She makes it a point to be overly respectful of the people that work there and the people around us, because there are so many internet Sephora kids that give them a bad rap. She is a Sephora girlie, but she doesn't lack manners when we're in there. Every time we go in there, she's like, “I can feel them looking at me. I swear I'm not going to offend anyone or make a mess of things.”

We've all been EpiPenned to death—I know 5 billion people have asked you about your breakup with Jimmy in the pods. Some viewers thought you were being mean-spirited when you made the comment, but I don't think they understood the situation had layers. Yes, you got your heart broken, but you also spent so much time away from your daughter. At that moment, did you feel like you were robbed of that time with her?
EpiPenned to death. I'm so happy that you asked me that because I'm really wary of bringing that up. Number one, I don't want to be victimized by my experience. I don’t want to use [the excuse] “Oh, I'm a single mom. You should feel bad for me.” But yes, I did feel like this was time that I'll never get back with her. I've come here to try and find my person. I willingly did that; I wanted to do that. But I did feel like he lacked transparency with me, and I could have been spared a couple days.
If he just told me earlier on. I can be a little confrontational about my feelings, I get that. But I left the door open every time I shared my feelings, like, “Hey, even if you don't feel the same way, that's totally fine. If you're leaning toward someone else, just let me know now.” I didn't flat out say, “Let me know so I can get home to my daughter,” but I did feel robbed of the experience in the sense of, I could have been home with her if it wasn't going to work out with us. So yes, you were right. A lot of my fire came from that.
For anyone close to their family, spending a long time away is hard. But you are a literal mother.
It's honestly something I've dealt with Autumn's whole life. The fact that I'm a young mom, sometimes people don't take me as seriously as they would a woman who was married and had children in her mid-30s. Autumn was an unplanned pregnancy, but that doesn't make me any less of a mom than anyone else. But I feel like that probably has something to do with it, which I try not to take offense to. It just is what it is.
Mom guilt and mom-shaming is so prevalent, and you’re facing it in a really public way right now. What advice do you have for women in the same position?
Mom guilt can be crippling. When your baby's a newborn, you can feel it from just taking a step away from your baby to go take a shower. Sometimes it feels selfish to do anything that you feel like is self-serving for you. I dealt with that for most of her life, which is why I never took a vacation away from her. I'm not bragging, but I never missed a moment. In the 10 years she's been alive, there's not a dance recital or a school function I’ve missed. I've been a part of every PTA meeting. I've been there for every moment.
But I came to realize that we can best take care of our children when we take care of ourselves first, and our kids being able to see us happy, and doing things for us individually that makes us happy, does set a really good example for them. I want Autumn to grow up knowing her feelings and her wants and her needs are valid. When she becomes a mother one day, I want her to know it's okay to do things for you, to take care of you because, in turn, that helps me take care of her. Because when you're pouring from an empty cup, you don't really have anything left to give.
How did you talk to Autumn about joining Love Is Blind?
I started to feel like, “I do want to date and I want to be married and I do want to have more children.” I talked with Autumn about it and she's like, "Yeah, I want you to have those things too." So that's how we had the conversation about me going on Love Is Blind. She's watched some of the show, and some of it she absolutely loves, and some of it she absolutely hates. Ultimately, I feel good about my decision. I know it set a good example for her.
There are a lot of self-proclaimed “girl’s girls” this season. In your opinion, what makes a girl's girl?
A girl's girl is the girl who is going to stick up for her friends and stick by what's right and save face for her friends at all costs. I don't believe there's ever a situation where you have to tear another woman down to make yourself look better; there's just never a need for that. But to be a girl's girl, it doesn't necessarily mean you get along with all girls. It's just a matter of doing and saying what you feel is right. Mostly everyone on the cast had the mindset that you do not have to tear someone else down or bring someone else down to make you look better. That's how we can condense being a girl's girl.
The sisterhood between the women on the show seems to be very strong, even when you were all dating the same men. Was that something that the girls had a conversation about in the beginning or did it come naturally?
Jokingly, but with the tone of seriousness, we all did set the premise in the beginning. We had a couple days of spending time with each other before we started going on dates and meeting the men because we had to shoot promo. So we were jokingly like, “Listen, we're not ruining this over anyone's son.” We did talk about that early on, but the friendships were so strong. Even if it hadn't been addressed, it was an unspoken mutual respect between everyone.

My cleanser
I have very, very oily skin. I'm always using products that revolve around that. For morning I use Skinbetter Oxygen Infusion Wash. I love it because it cleanses my face, but in a way that doesn't really strip it of its barrier, I still feel like I've got a little bit of, not oil there, but moisture. And then in the evenings I use CeraVe Foaming Cleanser, and I love it. It melts my makeup off, it strips my face, but not of its natural oils.

My serum
I do use a vitamin C serum, and I was trying to remember the brand of it before this call and I could not, so that was my one assignment and I messed it up. But the only serum I use is a vitamin C. Again, I have to be careful about the oils and stuff, because I'm naturally oily.
My moisturizer
In the mornings I use SkinBetter Trio Rebalancing Moisture Treatment. It's a really good light balancing moisturizer that is good for all skin types. In the evenings I use Cicaplast by La Roche Posay. It's amazing and underrated. You can get it at Target. It has saved my skin. It's better than any high-end nighttime moisturizer I've ever used.

My retinol
I've had a lot of people ask me if I use tretinoin and I do. I use tretinoin, 1%.
My eye cream
I cannot say enough good things about the SkinBetter EyeMax AlphaRet Overnight Eye Cream. It will take 10 years off your skin. You need it. And for eye masks, if I could recommend this to every woman, it would be this: the Shiseido Benefiance Eye Mask. It is a splurge, but you could use it just once a week and it is going to change your life, so the girls need that.

My face mask
When I do use one, usually before a big event or on the rare occasion I get dry patches, it's the Charlotte Tilbury sheet masks. They’re so good and great for every skin type. You can use it up to four times, and it's got an antimicrobial thing in it, so it's not crusty if you do want to use it all four times.

My lip balm
The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, we love her. She is the best.

My devices
If I was on a desert island and had to pick one thing, it would be the Skinny Confidential Hot Mess Ice Roller. It’s so good. It is expensive, but the stainless steel roller on it is huge. You can do lymphatic drainage on your whole body with it, which is underrated—everyone should be doing it. People always think I've had work done on my jaw and I have not. It's this ice roller, I'm telling you. I keep it in the freezer. So, in the morning when I'm packing Autumn's lunch, I just roll my face with it. But I do extra lymphatic drainage on my jawline area. When I'm telling you that is what gets the jaw snatched, everyone needs that.

My complexion
Because my skin is so oily, I don't wear foundation. For special events, I will. But my base is usually the Alastin Tinted Moisturizer, and this could serve as a foundation if someone really wanted it to, but I just put it on my dark areas and blend it out. My concealer that I use is the Too Faced Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer. It's buildable if you need it to be, but depending on what you blend it with, it can be pretty sheer too.

My blush
I am a blush girl. I love the DIBS Beauty Desert Island Duo. She's invaluable. You can do so much with this. I have all the shades. My favorite shade is 2.5, because you can use it in any season. Then after I do the cream blush, I set it with my powder, the Makeup by Mario Soft Pop Powder Blush in Creamy Peach. Also, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Sublime Flush is also a universally flattering shade. I didn't come up with that; that's what they say on their website.

My eyeliner
I felt like my eyeliner on the show aged me a bit. Autumn tells me that it’s very 2016 eyeliner and people are not doing that anymore. But I do love a good winged liner. That was the KVD Beauty

My bronzer
On the show I didn't wear cream bronzer because we had our makeup on for so long and I didn't want it to separate. I wore the Anastasia Beverly Hills bronzer in Saddle.

My eye shadow
The Makeup by Mario palettes, the Master Mattes. The one I was wearing on the show was actually the Ethereal Eyes Palette. But the shimmer that I had over top was actually Smashbox, it's a liquid eye shadow.

My lashes
On the show I did have lash extensions, but I've since given them up after a long nine-year run. Now I'm completely married to the Kiss ImPress Press-On Falsies Eyelash Clusters, they're prebonded. They have so many: They have natural ones, they have volume ones. It's so innovative. And you literally just pop them right underneath your bottom lash, no glue or anything needed. They're the best thing that's ever been created. I have them on right now. And my mascara is YSL Beauty Lash Clash.

My setting spray
It's nothing new, but the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray. The only thing I do differently with it than I think other people do is, when I put my tinted moisturizer on in the morning, I spray some of this in my hand and mix it in with it so it's a good base for when I do my concealer, or if I am wearing a foundation. And once I'm done with everything, then I spray it all over again. On the show I was extra powdered just because you just never know what you're going to do that day. And my powder was the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder.

My hair
My hair is mine because I bought it. But I do naturally have so much hair. But I have one row of hand-tied hair extensions that I was wearing on the show. They're the same length as my natural hair. I've used the same curling iron and bought it over and over again. It's literally just a ceramic wand from Target. It's by Remington and it's under $30. I buy a new one maybe every three years. All the girls in the show have actually bought it now, fun fact. I've been with them and they're like, “How do you get your curls to stay so long? What kind of sorcery is that?” And I'm like, “Literally, it's the Target curling iron. I don't know what to tell you.”
