New(ish) celeb couple alert! On Sunday, February 27, Naomi Watts and Billy Crudup made their red-carpet debut as a couple at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. While a relationship premiere is always a subject of fascination, this is especially notable because Watts and Crudup have been dating for about four years.
Crudup was nominated for a SAG Award for outstanding lead performance by a male actor in a drama series for his work on Apple TV+'s The Morning Show. The two even coordinated their looks for their red-carpet debut. Watts wore a black and shimmery high-neck Fendi gown with her hair in a sleek bob, while Crudup wore an all-black tux.

Naomi Watts and Billy Crudup have been linked since 2017, when they starred in the Netflix psychological thriller Gypsy, which Netflix canceled after one season due to poor reviews. On Gypsy, Watts played a psychologist who secretly infiltrated the lives of her patients, and Crudup played her husband. Watts started dating Crudup after her split from long-term partner Liev Shreiber, with whom she has two children. Watts and Schreiber, who were together for 11 years, announced their split in 2016. “Over the past few months we’ve come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple,” the former couple said in a statement at the time.
Crudup was in a relationship with Weeds actor Mary-Louise Parker, with whom he shares a son, from 1996 until 2003, and he dated Homeland star Claire Danes from 2003 to 2006.
In July 2017, Page Six reported that Watts and Crudup were spotted holding hands in New York City. Ever since, while making some public appearances, the couple have, until now, avoided attending highly publicized events as a couple. (The pandemic was a major factor in this as well.)
Before the SAG Awards, Watts shared several photos of herself with Crudup on her Instagram Stories including a couples selfie with the caption “Go Billy!”
