Families in Moldova do not receive the medicines they need. We bridge this gap and donate medicines to child cancer sufferers. Five-year-old Kiril Mizra, pictured above, was diagnosed with leukemia in January 2017. Doctors took two months to reach this diagnosis. Finally in the cancer hospital in Chisinau, his family simply did not have the means to pay for his stay nor the expensive chemotherapies. Krebsallianz donated all the medicines for his treatment with fantastic donors' support.
Patients in Moldova are frequently unable to get swift a medical diagnosis. Parents are often left in the dark for weeks without knowing what is wrong with their children. Diseases like leukemia and childhood cancer go unnoticed for long periods of time. The quality of basic treatment is low because hospitals simply cannot afford essentials such as bed sheets, equipment, disinfectants and medicines. Patients and their families must provide everything from food to expensive cancer treatments.
Krebsallianz will support families through the hospital process, providing vital medical solutions, essentials and targeted medication for individual patients. Working with inland organisations we make sure that our donations are followed-up and the cancer sufferer well looked after each step of the way. We intend to provide medicines and other essentials as well as a palliative care nurse training course to guarantee a sustainable impact on the leukemia ward.
The cancer hospital in Chisinau is the only one in the country. Our project will supply the ward with essentials and patients and their families with all necessities. Once a patient's treatment is over, our inland partners keep us updated on their progress and we continue to supply them with the essentials. In early 2018 we plan to provide a nurses training course in palliative care treatment.
