Synopsis is very misleading. There was no " I just don't love you anymore" anywhere in the book. Given what happened in the second book, this could never have happened. Even with Bailey's plight she could not say this, this would imply she remembered their past together. Clearly she did not know who her children or Aiden were, she didn't know who she was anymore. The author gave Bailey the worst possible disease, slowly losing her mind and her reality. Knowing you're going to die and losing a part of yourself everyday must of been frustrating and torture for her. Then the author used this to make her the one at fault in the story was reprehensible. It was a cheap ploy to entice the reader with teasers that were misleading and false. Even more so when you know she died alone without knowing she was loved by her family. We met her when she was alone without a family and that's what she believed when she died.

The description of the book is misleading and not what happened in the story. “I just don't love you anymore" never happened. Bailey did not leave Aiden. It's all smoke and mirrors to get readers hyped up, only to find out we’ve been duped. Readers have the right to truthful and honest previews of books they are considering reading. Relying on deceptive sales pitches in order to get more readers reflects poorly on the writing itself.

The reason there was an end to “us” was not “I just don’t love you anymore”. Aiden blamed Bailey for leaving him while she endured the ultimate lost, her life. While their love was epic and her loss was heartbreaking, he was not the tragic hero. For a flawed hero, he was selfish and a prick. There will always be an “us” despite his dispersions of Bailey.
Their children was a result of “us” and he seemed to forget this or rather held it against them. Bailey never had a choice or a voice in this saga.

Used and abused by the author, that’s how I felt after reading the duet. False advertising and false synopsis used to lure readers. The story we got was not what was described. I like to know what the story is about before purchasing or reading. Twists and turns are expected in stories but the storyline and characters were totally not the same as in the synopsis. This is a cheap and deceptive way of getting book sales.

Great synopsis right? If only that was in the story then it would be a 5 star book. Sadly what we got was a missing woman, a belligerent man and an airhead nanny. The wife is "missing", no one will say where she is but the husband is blaming her for leaving him and the children. The twelve and ten year old sons have not seen their father for eight months. The six month old daughter has never been held by her father. All this occurred while the nanny is hired but she has no idea where the parents are. All she knows is she is attracted to the father from just a picture, the twelve year old curses like a truck driver and she is teaching the six month old baby how to twerk. How can an almost thirty year old woman not check out her employer if she has to stay overnight? The back story between the wife and husband as children was the only highlight of the story. I'm sorry but the husband had no redeeming quality as an adult if he could not take care of his own children for nearly a year. Neglect is a form of abuse and he should have known better after the childhood he had.

MY REVIEW AND OTHERS: can also be found on my blog:
➽ KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS Image and video hosting by TinyPic Image and video hosting by TinyPic ❝ You'll find someone who will always be there for you. ❞
❝ I will? ❞
❝ Yes, I sweat it. ❞
❝ How do you know? ❞
❝ Because Aiden. I'll personally send her your way. I promise ❞

I don’t even know where to even begin with the writing up of this review because I can’t put into simple enough words to convey my scrambled thoughts. This book was like a puzzle that I couldn’t finish because there were so many missing pieces.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

As you pick up the book and jump into Aiden's life story my heart just broke to smithereens for him as we first encounter him as a young boy, with the world on his shoulders trying to be the wee man of the house. Until the unthinkable happens and he's left alone in the world, scared, defenseless, becoming a ward of the state, nowhere to run to. Placed in foster care.

It's here where he meets a young girl named Bailey Button who selfishly shares food with him cementing a unique friendship in a dark unknown world. ❝ No one wanted us. No one loved us. All we had was each other. ❞ A pivotal point in time where these two form such a strong bond which becomes their everything.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

These two characters loved each other undeniably, it oozed off the pages, and you could feel it simply bleeding into your heart, but somewhere along the way it all came tumbling down around them. Three children (Journey, Jackson & Jagger) left crumbling in its wake. Journey just a mere baby. A loveless household careening towards destruction, until a twenty eight year old Camila stepped in as a nanny to the children because both parents were absent from their lives and became the role model they clearly needed. A true Mary Poppins. She sprinkled love where it was so clearly lacking, a pillar of strength when she needed to be.

Without even meeting the married couple Camila already feels such a profound gravitational pull towards them, something she can't even explain.

❝ I choose us, Bailey Pierce. I will always choose us. No matter what. I choose us ❞

I felt everything Aiden and Bailey went through, from their story. To their hurt and anguish. I felt Aiden's inner struggle. But above all else I felt their love. So where did things go so wrong?

Don't start reading this book if you think it is about a man who is left broken when his wife abandoned him and their children. "Leaving" and "I don't love you" are used loosely to describe death. Shame on the author for being deceitful when she couldn't promote the real story honestly.

“I only need two things in this world. You and Us. Just you and us,Bailey".

*Deep breaths

I’ve had this type of smirk on the sly when it came to anything that M.Robinson has wrote since “ Ends Here” There’s no question that this woman can write and the angst will pretty much do you in, but the curve of my lips and raised eyebrows comes from me thinking that this author will NEVER get me again. The emotions that she had managed to pull out of me was a once in a lifetime thing because there was no way in hell that I was going down that emotional rollercoaster one more time. I almost sought out real therapy with her last duet so why the f*ck did I think that I was so special this time around?

My name is Sonya and I’m….. an emotional angst whore.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Aiden Pierce has wanted one thing and one thing only and that was to have the love of his life, by his side until he took his last breath. They say you know your soulmate from the minute you lay eyes on them and Aiden was no different. At seven years old he fell in love, and at Eighteen he sealed his fate with the woman of his dreams. Life had it’s ups and downs but love was always a constant for Aiden and Bailey and nothing could ever tear them apart. Or so they thought.

If you thought that ‘Choosing Us” was going to be a walk in the park read, someone lied to you!! It was not easy at times and some of the characters will test you but it will be worth it. From witnessing a love story in the making, to future heartbreaks, and the aura of mystery, Choosing Us will take a little piece of your heart right along with the final chapter.

I loved that this book ended up surprising me and it had a little bit of a guessing game to it. I was eager to keep flipping the pages as I went along just to get more answers!! Their pain was so raw that you had no choice but to feel every single emotion and I liked that the author gave us that. With a cliffhanger that will make you question everything and lose your mind at the same time, this duet is not to be missed out on.

Bailey leaving Aiden was a stretch of what happened. This was just a contrived excuse to explain away Aiden's surly behavior. Bailey loved Aiden and her children with her last breath. Don't fall for the author's lies, Bailey never "left " the family. In the end, it was the family that left her.

Having read the whole duet, I wish M never gave us Bailey's story. It was too heartbreaking to see her die while Aiden blamed her for his own cowardice in not taking care of his family. We did not need to know her heartbreak as a child or their love spanning 38 years only to have her die while we were led to believe she left her family because she did not love Aiden anymore. It was distasteful the way death was disguised and used as justification for Aiden's asshat behavior.

I don't know what I was expecting but what I'm reading has me disappointed. I thought this book was about Aiden and Bailey. The first 3 chapters were great but after that I liked only the chapters about the past. Camila is a nice character but I feel like she's intruding in a story that's not her own; because if Bailey is the heroine I don't like the unexplicable connection between Camila and Aiden and the fact that Camila seems to be the one this book is about.

If Bailey is not the heroine I'd have wanted to know it so I'd haven't read the story, because the teasers and the blurb made me think she was and that's why I feel kinda cheated. I was expecting Aiden and Bailey... not Camila as the main focus of the story. The author as always is good at writing since I've read and loved many books by her and she's very talented. But this time I'm sorry to say I was more dissatisfied than happy at what I've read.
To each her own.

This was not the story the author said it would be. The story somewhat was about Bailey and Aiden but ultimately it was about Aiden and the nanny. If you thought the story was about a wife leaving her family, it’s nowhere close to what really happened. She never left Aiden or her children, it was all a ruse by the author to garner interest in an otherwise trite nanny romance.

Beautiful story between Bailey and Aiden but beware the ultimate story is not about these two. It revolves around Bailey's mysterious absence in the book and their story was used as a lure to get readers interested for the second book.

***4,5 "Me and you against the world..." stars***

“You were the beginning of everything for me. You will forever be my always, Bay, I only need two things in this world.
You and Us.
Just you and us, Bailey."

OMG! This woman!!!! Darn... this woman!!!! She knows how to captivate you with her stories!!!!
It's not a secret that M. Robinson is one of my favorite authors, even though she is wrecking me every single time with every story of hers, but still... I'm trusting her blindly!!!!
She knows how to keep you on edge... She knows how to write beautifully broken stories... And she knows how to mend your heart in the end and that's my only hope in this point after the ending of this book!!!!
And exactly that's the reason why i didn't read immediately the first part of this story, because i knew that i will die without the second and final part!!!! I need one day for persuading the next book and still... it's too much waiting!!!! Bahahaha...

"Just come back to me... please.
I can't live, I can't breathe...
I can't go on without you."

Well, this story was complicated in a way... I was really frustrated and i have soooo many questions!!!!
There was a couple in here!!!! A loving couple who got through too many ugly things in their life... But their love was strong enough to withhold the difficulties of their lives...
Aiden and Bailey were together from a very early age...
At the present, they are having three children, but their home is... broken!!!!
And i totally not understand why that happened!!!! I have many theories, but i really don't know which one of them are legit!!!

"You'll find someone who will always be there for you."
"I will?"
"Yes, I swear it."
"How do you know?"
"Because Aiden. I'll personally send her your way. I promise."

Unfortunately, in this book we didn't have a fully picture of both of them...
In here, we just had some chapters from Aiden's POV.... Mostly, from their past together, but the puzzle is still uncomplete and many, many pieces are missing!!!
The prologue was frustrating and the epilogue was even more confusing!!!!
Where is Bailey??? And who would choose Aiden after all???
Gawd!!! My mental state is not in a good place after that ending!!!! I need the next book!!!!

"I won't lose you," I breathed out against her lips.
"I have seen you in so many different ways, and I have loved you in each one of them. For better or for worse, Bay . . . for better or for worse, I will love you."

Are you ready to hear the other confusing thing???
Most chapters in here was from Camilla's POV!!!! Who the hell was Camilla???
Camilla was a lovely and very fiesty girl and she became the Pierces nanny!!!
Hmmm.... What is her connection with the main couple??? Hell, if i knew!!!! Yes, i have a good reason in my mind, but i don't know, if i must believe it!!!!
In a way, Camilla came like a ray of hope in this broken home!!!! Will she manage to help this family??? Or in a way, she will be their distraction???
Arrrr, I'm really very frustrated with all this matter!!! I really don't know what's true or false... what's right or wrong!!!

"It was like I was her and she was me. An eerie shiver hit my body hard. I could physically feel her happiness, her joy, her love...
Their love.
Their pain.
The need to be wanted, needed, adored just the same."

Bailey and Aiden was an amazing couple... First love, first everything!!! Their love is infinite!!!
And their spawns were simply amazing with their faults and their tantrums!!!
I loved Jackson soooo much, even though he was kind of a$$ most of the time... And of course, i can not wait for his story with Harley (Mia and Creed's daughter!!!)... Right????
Jagger was a quiet boy, but he seemed very wise...
As for little Journey??? God, this baby girl!!!! She was... everything!!!!

"How do you mand a broken heart?
How do you go on with life without your person walking next to you?"

Phew!!!! I'm stopping now and I will try to mentally prepare myself for the rest of the story!!!!
I'm dying here from the agony of how the things will play out after all...
Am I right or wrong in my suggestions???

I am so confused. Actually Scratch that... Confused has a negative intonation in it. I am intrigued, my imagination is running wild with speculations and a lot of what ifs... My brain cells is doing a happy dance but is a little puzzled too. 😂

But to be honest, the story of Aiden and Bailey is melt-your-heart sweet. Their love story story makes my heart skip a beat every so often with moments that are too good to be true. Knowing what happens after reading the synopsis, reading about their love story is also bittersweet.

Choosing Us is shrouded in mystery!  I loved every word in this book..I was addicted to it. Let's be honest and say that Choosing Us was an emotional read. It has unexpectedly left a mark on my soul...and with a cliffhanger like that? I don't know how I will be able to wait patiently until Choosing You.

"I just don't love you anymore" was never uttered in the book. It was never referenced in the book. Where is it from? It's mysterious as "Where's Bailey?" Take away this phrase and Bailey leaving the family, it's obvious where Bailey was. This story was stretched out to a duet for sales, not for any other reason.

What did I just read? 😱Expect the unexpected!

Wow... I just finished reading this book and not sure how to convey what I am feeling. My emotions are all over the place. It was a very unexpected plot, but I loved everything about it. It had me hooked and not wanting to let go! As always, you won’t get any spoilers from me 😉. Aiden’s childhood had my heart breaking. I’m very intrigued with what M has up her sleeve next. I’m loving all the characters and after that muthaeffin cliffy I need to know what happens next! #TopFavoritesof2019

Seriously no FUCKS were given by M. Robinson when she was writing Choosing Us. She went right for the kill in the mother fucking Prologue. This just solidifies my theory that Robinson takes a real sadistic pleasure in tormenting her readers. And this book has all the parts of a M. Robinson book that makes it so good that you cannot bring yourself to put it down:
1. complete asshole male character you can't help but love
2. female character that you just connect to
3. never ending emotional roller coaster ride
4. a love story that is so gripping that it stays with you after you close the book

Let me start off with saying that Choosing Us is the first book in a duet so if you cannot stand a good mother fucking cliffy or having to wait for the next book to be released, then by all means wait and read Aiden's story when you can get your hands on both books.

Now to the book itself. There is so many different layers to the story that i do recommend telling everyone to leave you the fuck alone so you can concentrate, and make sure that you go in with an open mind. And I say this because you may think you know how this story is going to play out, but you will be sitting back questioning everything you thought. I know that was me for the entire time I was reading. Then when I got to the end I found myself having more questions for myself if what I think is still to come and what really just happened is right, or is Robinson playing evil as shit mind tricks.

Choosing Us took Robinson back to the contemporary side of romance, so if you read and loved her Good Ol' Boys series, then this will be your next favorite read.

"I won't lose you," I breathed out against her lips. "I have seen you in so many different ways, and I have loved you in each one of them. For better or for worse, Bay . . . for better or for worse, I will love you."

The Queen of angst is BACK baby, and boy did she come back with a BANG. Choosing Us will utterly destroy you, mind, body, and soul. This book is an emotional journey about a man named Aiden. A broken boy, who lost everything he held dear. His life was falling apart, piece by piece. . . His once red beating heart had turned black as ice. Until one girl changed everything, Bailey. His reason for breathing. The air to his lungs. Together they were each-others soft place to land. Until it wasn't. Until it was taken away. Gone. Forever broken.

This is where Camila comes in. She is a soft spoken woman with a heart of gold. Utterly adores kids, and when she gets offered a job to watch and care for Aiden's children, she takes it without a second thought. What she doesn't realize is how much she comes to care for these kids. They are taken with her, and that dulls the pain of abandonment. Camila will do anything just to see those children smile again. But what happens when she finds out the real reason why this family is so broken? Where is Aidens wife? Why is Aiden so broken?

M. Robinson knows how to crush her readers hearts, and this book did just that! I laughed, cried, sobbed my eyes out reading this heartbreaking book. The ENDING?!?! I can't wait to see what happens in part 2. Choosing Us is one of the most emotionally explosive books I've ever read. It hooks you right at the start and doesn't let go. I lived for each word, grasped these pages like a life line. . . So memorable and oh so moving. Read this book, you won't regret it!

Misleading blurb about Bailey not loving Aiden anymore. Bailey's character was blamed for something she never said or did. The author should have been upfront with the storyline. Teasers were about Aiden and Bailey, their love and struggles as children. All the hype and then we read the book and Bailey was not there, everything about her were told through Aiden and Camila's biased eyes. Aiden blamed her for "leaving" and Camila was love struck with Aiden on first "picture" sight. The bad wife trope was used to humanize an otherwise ass of a man. I will not say an asshole husband because he was just a bad human being. He was a bad husband, father, friend and employer. If the story had been Bailey leaving Aiden and taking the kids with her (because we know she would never abandon her kids like Aiden did) I would give it 5 stars. What we got instead was a dead wife not a wayward wife, I felt she was used as a scapegoat to justify Aiden's disgusting and abusive behavior. She deserved better, women as a whole deserve better than being a trophy wife and mother.

Shelved as 'not-appealing'

Thanks to my friend Funda, I have learnt that the hero is 19 years older than the heroine. He is 46 and the h is 27. I would maybe still try it because I like some of this writer's work but the more I talked to my friend, the more unappealing this duet sounded.

If you want to learn why I decided not to read it, you can uncover the spoilers in the comments section in my friend's review, but let me warn you that they are big spoilers. I am happy that I learnt about them, though, or I would be furious reading this duet!

I can ignore bad editing, bad characters, bad storylines, bad writing but I can't ignore dishonesty. I usually trust authors will give us what they promote and put out as content in their books. In this instance we have been hoodwinked into believing things on so many fronts. The story is not about a wife leaving her husband by no stretch of the imagination. If you read the whole duet then you know the truth, there was no leaving, only death. Promotion of the story was of Bailey and Aiden then when we read the book, she's not there. Tactics like trickery tainted the rest of the story, it was just not a good read.

ARC received for an honest review

Wowsers! I knew I needed more of Dr Aiden Pierce when I was reading Lost Boy, but I did not know how much I needed it.

I wasn't sure what to expect going in, however Ms Robinson has just messed with my head and ripped my heart out, stomping all over it (and I am sure gleefully laughing at us readers).

The queen of angst had me in knots right from the prologue, and now as I have finished reading this one, those knots have not left my stomach.

Another beautiful, heartbreaking, big fat tear inducing story (one that should not be sneakily read at work, take warning!).

But now what am I going to do for the next 2 months until part 2 comes out? I can't wait to get my hands on book 2.

This story is AMAZING! I hung off every word! The characters are so real, so raw. You could feel all their emotions. M Robinson blew it out of the park with this one. She went back to a contemporary romance feel with all the angst we love. I laughed. I cried. I loved. I felt everything. I sat on the edge of my seat hanging off every word. So powerful. I can't wait to see what happens next! NEW TOP FAVORITE BOOK!!! Hands down!

**Spoiler-Free Duet Review**

‘I yearned for her to feel me. To see me. To love me. The man who would die for her.’

The Pierced Hearts Duet by Monica Robinson is a perfect blend of raw emotion, soul-searing love, broken hearts, and dream-inspiring hope and happiness. We were dying to read Aiden Pierce’s story! He was an enticing enigma; a sexy angry alpha mystery, who had our hearts beating and our pulse racing. We were not prepared to feel such heart-breaking sadness, confusion and have conflicted feelings as we did, whilst reading this duet. Whilst Monica Robinson is known for her angsty romances this slow build duet came across more as a healing journey of survival after immense tragedy, finding absolution, acceptance and a life after loss.

“I always got you. Me and you against the world, remember?”

It’s not often you begin a book and immediately tear up with a sense of despair and foreboding. We knew what was possibly coming was not going to be easy to read, as the words told a story straight from the heart and mind of a little boy, Aiden. A boy who suffered the worst tragedy a child can experience and became almost lost in a system of neglect and violence. When at the lowest, a sweet lost girl, Bayley, takes his hand in the darkness and helps him find his way, just as he does the same for her. Finding their light in life. Oh, our hearts!

“You’ll find someone who will always be there for you.”
“I will?”
“Yes, I swear it.”
“How do you know?”
“Because, Aiden. I’ll personally send her your way. I promise.”

Choosing Us, book one in this duet tells the back story of a young Aiden Pierce as well as building up a story set in present time told by the beautiful, Camila. The first instalment leaves a myriad of questions, a mystery and conflicting feelings in its wake. The voices of all the characters having such an emotional teary impact. The behaviour and actions in stark contrast with the beating of hearts. The humour and cheeky banter so refreshing, when we most needed it. Choosing Us left us confused as to how this story was going to play out, we were hesitant to what transpired in the present as our hearts belonged to the love of the past. We needed convincing, before we too could fall!

‘Without words, he was showing me the deepest part of him. His oldest wounds. His jagged scars. His regrets. His life…And the damage it all left behind.’

Choosing You, book two in this duet, paves an emotional detailed journey to the answers we were seeking, with such poignancy. The intensity is breath-taking in the moments that count. The laughs are aplenty and the heat is scorching. The characters and their journey is captivating. Where Choosing Us was slow building, the second instalment felt fierce and fast paced with that angst, this Author is much loved for. Our questions were answered and our struggle unravelled.

‘Would I ever have him? Truly have him?’ My mind told me no, but my heart, my soul, was in his hands. Choking the life out of me.’

Aiden & Bailey; whilst your story of survival and finding love broke us, it made our hearts full and overflowing with love. Camila, your patience, love and nurturing heart overwhelmed us. Jackson, Jagger and Journey; your story had us in tears and we willed actions to speak louder than words.

‘For the first time in my life, I’m struggling with the reality that maybe you’re allowed to love more than one person in a lifetime. That maybe you’re allowed to have more than one soulmate.’

We loved catching up with loved ones from Monica Robinson’s previous books, it felt like coming home, to a family which we’ve been a part of and love fiercely. Whilst we did find that the latter part of Choosing You felt a bit rushed, the epilogue more than made up for this, our hearts left soaring. Our love cemented, by this Author’s vivid beautiful words, wicked sense of humour and the heat she infuses so well.

‘I gave her everything. My friendship. My heart. My soul. My love and devotion…’

Never has a book taken me on the emotional journey I experienced with Choosing Us. Aiden, the male lead will capture your heart as you walk through life with him, and experience his highest highs and lowest lows.. His desire to love and be loved in return is evident from early on. When his life is shaken at its core and he loses everything important to him he finds Bailey..his girl.. his air.. his reason for being. The life they experience together is painfully beautiful yet they still prevail. Proving that together they are unstoppable..until one day it’s gone... like ashes in the wind.

Camila comes from a tough neighborhood but the love of her family, her generous heart and strong will to be more has brought her to a place she now craves the most. Taking on the role of caring for a families children seems like a no-brainer considering how much she loves children., but she wasn’t prepared for how much this family would affect her. They are embedded in her soul and connecting with them and helping them with the pain that has brought them down is her sole priority, but will it break her too?

M. Robinson’s unique writing style once again introduces characters and a story that you can’t help but love as a reader. You will cry and laugh. Your heart will race, and you will want to scream but most of all YOU WILL NOT REGRET READING THIS AMAZING STORY

The Queen Of Angst has done it again!! Dr. Aiden Pierce, god even his name is HOT!!! Dr. Pierce is the Chief Of Surgery at Docher memorial Hospital and on the side has been helping Creed and his MC for a while now as their unofficial doctor. This is the story of his life..falling for his childhood sweetheart,Bailey Ashton Pierce..losing her. As always M.Robinson gives a great backstory to her fabulous characters so we start with young Aiden & Bailey leading up to all the events that bring him to be the Man he is today. We also meet Camila. She becomes the new nanny for Aiden’s three children Journey,Jackson & Jagger. I don’t want to say to much and spoil this book but it is not what you are expecting and I need book two of this duet NOW!!!!
“Every tear...Every heartache...Every disappointment and accomplishment...
That brought us together in the end.”
I also loved all the side characters! Dante is a hoot and I can’t wait for Jackson’s book. He is quite the teenager lol! This is told in dual POV from Camila’s present POV and Aiden’s past POV’s. Absolutely brilliant way to write a book that I couldn’t put down and I need to know where this is going!!!!
