Love will never break your heart again Second time someone promises that, and they say it as if it's a good thing. But I know better. Love won't break my heart again because I won't find love again. I know in my gut I'm not meant to bond with Laura "Fuoco" Rossi, even if C and fate decree otherwise. She's a model of international fame, and I'm... me. The ugly, scarred Olympios brother. The one who's never belonged anywhere. My ascension depends on our bonding, but a woman as beautiful and refined as Laura would have nothing to do with me of her own free will. That's why I won't give in to her advances, hard as that may be. And Gaia, is it hard.
Sotia cries at sappy movies and wishes she could take in all the stray dogs in the world. She lives in Athens, Greece, with her husband--whom she met through writing--their son, and their two rescue dogs, one of which might be part-pony.
Her genres of choice are romances with a twist and urban fantasy novels, always with vivid erotic elements. Her characters aren't exactly hero-material at first glance; she likes making them fight for their happiness. Still, the romantic in her can’t resist happy endings.
Ahem. Book 5 in the series, Heat for Hephaestus could be read as a standalone, but it won't be nearly as good. The first four are so much fun, I highly suggest giving them a whirl. Written in first person perspective from the two leads' point of view.
So as expected from his rather dour demeanor in the previous books, Hephaestus is definitely the...sadder of the brothers. He can fix anything, except apparently himself. He remembers just enough of his past to want nothing to do with love, or ascending and is avoiding it at all costs. Fate, of course, has other plans. Meet Laura.
Laura is a fun character. She is an 'older' (think 30) model who also happens to be an engineer with some daddy issues. She meets Hephaestus when their vehicle breaks down near his auto shop. As soon as she sees him she wants him. Definitely amusing to watch her pursue the big gruff guy with such enthusiasm.
The book has some laughs, a few moments with the brothers, some heartbreaking backstory, a big reveal, a healthy dose of steam, and peace for our grumpy teddy bear. Definitely a fun ride!
The spin of each Greek god getting his life mate is phenomenal. I love the way the story reads and the feelings each character brings to the narrative. Hephaestus story, and although its common knowledge him and Aphrodite were married yet not a true love match; the under story that Heph did indeed find live makes my heart happy. Again love this story and eager to read Hades. But the underlying tension between long lost brother Apollo and witch Cassandra, it makes me want to read their full story.
Absolutely loved Heat for Hephaestus he is a tortured soul. He believes no one will ever love him and the one woman he loved betrayed him with Zeus. He doesnt want to ascend because he believes no one will love him and eventually leave him. Well fate wont give him a chance since his mate will end up at his garage. He will have to face his future and past in order heal. Great addition to this series Laura Hephaestus's mate is funny, sexy and witty. She gives him no chance to get away, she is very persistent in her approach to claim her God of Fire. Happy Reading!!
