Indulge Me

Throughout the restaurant industry, Chef Bastian Aquino is a notorious control freak. For two very long years, Kian Reynolds has worked for Bastian as his special assistant, doing whatever he and his restaurant needs. The toughest part isn’t even all the impossible tasks he expects Kian to complete flawlessly—it’s the hopeless, endless love he feels for his older boss.

Falling for someone so far above him might be agonizing, but at least his feelings aren’t unrequited. Bastian fell in love right alongside him, but at the very beginning, they made the choice to abstain for logical, smart, professional reasons.

But love isn’t logical, it isn’t smart, and it definitely isn’t professional. It defies containment, even by Bastian. While he watches Bastian struggle with their attraction, Kian finally comes to the conclusion that he’s done.

He’s done standing off the side, done not getting any of the credit, done letting Bastian define the boundaries of their relationship. Most of all, he’s done waiting.

Indulge Me is an 85,000 word contemporary romance, feauturing a boss/employee relationship, an age gap and very delicious risotto. It is the fourth and final book in the Kitchen Gods series, and to receive a fuller, more enjoyable reading experience, I would recommend reading at least one other book in the series first.

Five fat 'not quite Michelin' stars for this concluding book in what has been a totally outstanding series from Beth Bolden.

I was very lucky to beta read this book, not that it really needed anything changing because it was practically perfect, and I have to say, Beth saved the best for last.

We needed to see 'The Bastard' through everyone else's eyes so that when we finally got to see him through Kian's, it emphasised just how different he was.

I loved this book. Bastian is so much more than just the bad-tempered chef, he's passionate and loyal, loving and supportive, quick tempered but capable of some serious slow burn.

Some of the sexy times in this book are Beth's finest, she raises the temperature to boiling point and then lets the emotions explode.

I shall miss this merry band of chefs, and the special people they let into their lives, but I will picture them all happily cooking and loving until the final tables are cleared.

Thanks Beth, for the trust in letting me peek at your words before the rest of the world, and for bringing these men to life.

I've loved all the couples but Kian and Bastian will always be my favourites.

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.

Having worked in restaurants off and on for many years, I get what it means when you have to have a smooth running operation behind the scenes. Everyone has their place in kitchen and there has to be a line of leadership to keep it going. Sometimes those in charge go a bit beyond and sometimes it's necessary.
Being known as the Bastard is kind of like a badge of pride for Bastian. He knows he has a hot temper and sometimes it goes too far. He never apologizes but what people don't realize is he's so tough to make people their best. For Kian, he didn't even think of applying for Bastian’s famous restaurant after culinary school. He wanted to be in Europe at the best places he could be. Until he met Bastian. Bastian opened his eyes to a few things about the culinary world and a few things personal. Kian wanted this man with a passion. Bastian picks Kian as his intern and Kian is excited until he winds up in the dishroom first. But he soon realizes he has to work his way up like everyone else. For the next two years, several good people have left and Kian has become an asset filling in anywhere. When the opportunity arises he even becomes the #1 man in the restaurant. As well as Bastian's #1 man personally. They try not to cross lines, but it fails. They have to figure out what's more important in their lives. The culinary world and control or each other.
I have ...I can't say 'hated’ Bastian, but man, he is one of those you love to hate. He rides that fine line. He's cocky, self-centered, selfish and as Xavier likes to call him, a bastard. But he's good at what he does. You don't get Michelin stars unless you're the best. You never get to see a different side to him really, until he takes on Kian. He was smitten with Kian from day one, but professionally it would destroy things if they crossed lines. But Kian brought out things in Bastian he never thought possible. He made him feel. Made him see things differently. I would never be able to work with the man lol, but he would be worth trying to get to know outside of it. Unless he got an attitude lol.
Kian, for me, I had a hard time with, too, at times. He's often accused of being just like Bastian in ways, and sometimes it's very true. But I feel for Kian, too. He's not had the easiest of lives, and he's worked damn hard to get to where he is. And there's a specific asshole in this book that makes things about 5x worse. (And Kian gives him something he deserves. It made me very happy.) He's got balls, though. It takes a while, but he pulls out all stops when it comes to Bastian. I also feel for him because Bastian's put him in some impossible situations he's not ready for. He works just as hard and does his best.
Restaurant work is never easy. Even if it's fast food, it's not as easy as some people try to make it out to be. When you run one like Terrior, it's grueling. Adding personal things to it can cause friction and resentment amongst the crew. Sometimes it seems worse than a daytime soap opera. So to a point, I got why Bastian is the was he is. Kian too. It's heady.
I have to say, I'm sad to see it end. This book was an intense way to go. And it ended perfectly.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the fourth book in the series - and I have to admit my first read by Beth Bolden, but definitely not my last. I love stories set in a professional kitchen, so I am surprised I am new to this gang of guys, but you can be assured that I plan on returning to the beginning and enjoying all the goodness that they also promise. I did not feel that I had missed out on the leads' relationship with each other, as we get it from the very beginning, but I imagine my opinion of Chef Aquino may have been a little different!

Kian intends to be the very best, and only an internship in a European kitchen will be good enough. However when Chef Aquino visits his culinary school, he realises his mistake, because there is a chemistry between them that needs investigating. Fortunately Bastian feels exactly the same, and gives Kian his big chance.

It was fascinating watching them grow closer professionally, and yet deny the opportunity to be close privately. As onlookers it was possible to see the cracks, the issues of trust, expectation and ultimately disappointment. It is a wonderful study in two men so in tune with each other that they forget that they are not extensions of each other, and so need to communicate more clearly.

I loved the side characters (well, except Mark, obviously), and most especially Bastian's mother, who did a wonderful job of interfering, but in a good way!

Lovely story, which did an excellent job of describing the life of a busy restaurant kitchen, and the inevitability of closeness when working creatively together. Now to go back and enjoy the rest of the goodness!

This was my least favorite of the series but I did like it. 3 stars isn't bad, it's worth reading.

This was the final of the series and we've been on the outside looking in to what we think is Kian and Basitan's one-sided, dysfunctional relationship. A good portion of this book takes place at the same time as the other books. I don't usually like this. I'll suffer through to know what happens in a series but if I can find good spoilers, I'll skip it. Beth Bolden did a good job with this. I didn't feel like the conversations from the previous books were too long and there was enough new perspective to keep me IN this book.

Recommended.

Maybe it's because I had heard so much from the outside of Bastian & Kian's relationship by this time in the series but I doubt it. Their relationship felt almost abusive even from Kian's point of view. I don't care for the whole boss/employee relationship from the start but the way Kian was treated and how he wasn't allowed to think for himself until being thrown into the deep end really bothered me.

This has been a great series. I've loved all the couples and enjoyed watching them take different paths to their happy endings. Throughout it all, we've seen temperamental chef Bastian the Bastard, and sweet naïve Kian, the boy who loved him. I've been anxiously awaiting Bastian and Kian's story, and now that it's here, I'm so happy!
This is a relationship that is complex from day one. Bastian and Kian feel an attraction when they first meet at the culinary school Kian attends. That attraction never ends, even as Bastian's volatility causes Kian's friends and coworkers to despise the man. Kian and Bastian, while fighting their attraction, still grow closer than anyone knows, and their feelings turn into so much more than lust. If they allow their personal wants to take over, will it ruin the professional relationship that is so important to both of them?
This book is wonderful. The author makes the reader love Bastian, who has been very much unlovable in prior books, especially in Xander's story, Savor Me. And Kian is not the hopeless fool he seems to his friends. Watching the affection bloom between these two isn't easy, but it is satisfying. I want to hug them both. The love story of Bastian and Kian is fabulous, and it's the perfect ending to this wonderful series. These books are engaging, humorous, heartbreaking, romantic, and just about perfect. I love and recommend them all.

Talk about a slow burn until Bam! So much heat in the kitchen and more. I loved Kian and Bastian’s story. Bastian was definitely the bastard but it turns out he has a heart, a big one. And Kian was the soft puppy who turned out to have a spine, a really strong one. Ignoring the editing issues (missing words, wrong words) that I’ll assume were fixed before final publication, I’m giving this a strong 4 stars.

Finally we get Kian and Bastian and it was definitely worth the wait. We’ve watched these two through the whole Kitchen Gods series and never known what was happening exactly. Beth Bolden has written this true to who we thought these two were and the result is perfect. It was never going to be easy for these two but worth the ride.

Review coming soonI was (not so) patiently waiting for this fourth title in the Kitchen Gods series by Beth Bolden since I first met Bastian and Kian in the previous books. I so wanted to know them better and discover their love. I think the author did a great job with their story, not just in this new release, but also with all the little snippets she gave me about tis couple in the other titles. I was so curious and eager, I couldn't wait to have their story on my hands.
And I have to say I wasn't disappointed, I loved this novel so much. I think it was well balanced, how much they wanted each other, how they were fiercely protective, how they waited for fear to ruin something important. Cause to me it was clear from the beginning they were deep in love, it was never just attraction. And then when they were finally together, it was really beautiful to see how Bastian truly wan not just “the Bastard” everyone called him, but a caring, sweet man.
I am a fan of books about chef and food in general, plus I like my MCs to have an age difference. Moreover Indulge Me took place over some years and following these men throught the journey that brought them together, was a jem. And the epilogue was really lovely. Least but not last I was able to meet again some of the characters I learnt to love in the whole series.
I'm sad this is the last title but it was a very well done series and I feel pretty satisfied with it. I feel to recommend it.

The cover art by AngstG is lovely as eveything this artist does, she’s so good.

First off, I did not read the previous books in this series, not sure why but I didn't. I did feel like I was missing some back story between Kia and Bastian. Bastian was a jerk but Kia loved him anyway. This was a slow burn build up before it exploded. I think I probably would have rated this 5 stars if I had read the previous books and knew the build up of Kia and Bastian. I am sure those who read the previous books loved this book. I think when I get some free time I will read the previous books and then re-read this one.

This last one I just didn't connect with. I think it's because I didn't really like either of the two characters. So I skipped around a lot in the book. It was a really interesting idea, but I just didn't connect with it.

In this conclusion to the Kitchen Gods series, we finally find out what Kian has been seeing in Bastian all this time. He was always an utter "Bastard" and never seemed very likable, but we get to see the other sweeter side of him. Despite how confident both Kian and Bastian appear professionally, it was an interesting switch to see both of them so hesitant and afraid of how to make a relationship work. There was a lot of trust in the other person, but also a lot of doubt in their own abilities to work things out. I really enjoyed this book and the entire series. I'm sad to see it end.

I definitely wouldn't be opposed to a short story in the future with a wedding or three. :-)

Indulge Me is book 4 in the Kitchen Gods series and probably the only one I wouldn't suggest even trying without reading the others, which are awesome as well, so you don't want to miss out. We've been getting these glimpses of Kian and Bastian from Bite Me (Book 1) and while some of those will be expanded on in Indulge Me, it's not quite the same if you pass on those, plus this is the end of the series, you really need to read the previous ones. I promise you won't regret it.

I will be perfectly honest here, I came into the story not sure Bastian could be redeemed, not because he did something bad per se, but because he really was a bastard to the guys whenever we saw him in the previous books and while it was obvious Kian was in love with him, I wasn't too sure the feelings were reciprocated or that Kian wouldn't allow Bastian to walk all over him. Well, I'm happy to report that Bastian was different than I expected and that Kian definitely didn't let his love for Bastian or his youth be a problem. Of course, it wasn't all smooth sailing and I might have been a tad angry at both of them (and annoyed and anxious and everything in between) at how certain things were handled, and I actually had to go read the last couple of chapters to make sure things would work out, and in the end, I was satisfied in the knowledge that while not my favorite part of the book, it had to happen to put them in a good place to move forward. (How's that for vague? LOL) Nevermind that the chemistry between Kian and Bastian lived to my expectations and I was absolutely enthralled with how well they fit together despite the age gap and their respective positions in the Terroir kitchen. They were unbelievable together and definitely my favorite of all the couples.

I loved catching up with the rest of the guys, and seeing Xander being less prickly now that he's with Damon and more into helping Kian, despite his own reservations regarding Bastian. And I really liked Bastian's mother, she was a lovely addition to the story. I hated Mark with the fire of a thousand suns and wasn't all that happy with Derek, I wish he would've gotten a bit of what Mark did.

Overall, while I adored Savor Me, Indulge Me is the book I've waited for since I picked up Bite Me and all the books in between, and Beth Bolden managed to exceed whatever I had imagined and gave me a story that I won't forget anytime soon. Very recommendable!

This is the perfect ending to a wonderful series. Finally, we get Kian and Bastian’s story, and it was everything I hoped for and more. When they meet for the first time, it’s insta-lust, and yet their story is a lovely slow-burn romance. It takes them two years before they finally act on their feelings.
I recommend reading the books of the series in order because then you can really appreciate how cleverly this author built up Kian and Bastian’s love affair. The first few chapters hint at how all it started, and there are quite a few skips in time to span the two years. Without having read the first books, this might be confusing and too fast-paced, but for me, it worked really well.
In this book, we really get to know Kian and Bastian. They are the same and, at the same time, so different from what I’ve thought them to be. Kian is not the naïve, starstruck, idolizing young man from the first books. Yes, he is young and very much in love with Bastian, but he grows in confidence. He knows what he wants, and he sees who Bastian really is. He sees that behind the arrogant mask and rudeness, Bastian hides a vulnerability that only a few people know about. But he loves him nonetheless. As his mother used to say “you don’t have to love everything. You don’t even have to like everything, but you need to accept who they are because you can’t change them.” And that’s exactly what Kian does, and that’s exactly what Bastian needs. Because although Bastian indeed doesn’t change—he still has a temper, is arrogant and rude—with Kian in his life, he knows there’s more than his kitchen and restaurant. He’s trusting in love again.
Their love is strong. It shows in everything they do. Especially when they don’t want to give in to their feelings. They dread what that could do to their professional relationship. They don’t want to hold the other back in their hopes and dreams. That their decisions are not always the wisest become evident throughout the story. Not surprising though as both Kian and Bastian are cut from the same cloth, both stubborn and hard-headed. But that makes them so perfect for each other because they recognize and acknowledge the true nature of the other.
I love reading series because you get glimpses of the lives of the other MCs after their story ended. This book has all that, and the epilogue is one of the best and most unique I’ve ever read.

If you’ve been following the Kitchen Gods series, you’ve probably been waiting on edge like I have for Kian’s story. We all know by now what a bastard Bastian seems to his employees (current and former), but now’s our chance to see the man behind the façade and to learn if that moniker is truly deserved or not. Now that I’ve finished the series, I really can’t decide which story is my favorite—it’s one of those impossible tasks, but in this case that’s a really good problem to have.

If you love unresolved sexual tension, you’ve come to the right book—Kian and Bastian have that in spades. Like years worth of it. And just when you think it might get resolved…yeah, nope. It might make you frustrated (so just imagine how frustrated the two of them are), but you kinda have to admire the willpower and dedication to their careers on both their parts. But it does make things that much sweeter when they do finally give in—and that won’t go as you expect either.

Kian’s always been the one through this series that everyone felt like they needed to protect, but I assure you he’s fully capable of handling that himself. He knows what he wants, but remains focused…even when he really, REALLY wants to give in. Bastian—well, he’s kind of that bastard that he’s been made out to be, but as you might expect there’s another side to him. His bastard side still shines through loud and clear though, and his desperate determination to stick to his resolve to keep things between him and Kian purely professional got downright exasperating at times. It did make him seem aloof and even cold sometimes, but that made me want to savor those slips into his other side all the more.

Indulge Me is a solid story with some unexpected moments (especially from Kian—he’s going to surprise you more than once), and for me it wound up being a 4.5-star read. While you could read this as a standalone, I would strongly suggest that you read the books of this series in order. When it comes to Kian and Sebastian, reading the other stories first will give you much better insight into their characters, and make their story here more meaningful. This book is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.

Indulge Me is the fourth book in the Kitchen Gods series and my favorite out of the bunch. This book can be read as a standalone, but I think it’s much more enjoyable reading the previous three books first, especially Savor Me since some of the events in Indulge Me overlap with Savor Me.

Since the start of this series Chef Bastian Aquino has been the volatile and exacting chef-owner of the prestigious French-inspired restaurant Terroir. For most chefs, working at Terrior is both a dream come true and nightmare wrapped together. Bastian will accept nothing less than perfection from his employees and with a temper that is quick to flare, many people find themselves getting scorched. For Miles, Wyatt, and Xander, the previous main characters of the first three books and Kian’s friends, working at Terrior was just a phase in their lives, a place to hone their skills before they were ready to move on. But for Kian, Terrior is his life, and there’s no moving on from Bastian Aquino, not when the mercurial chef owns his heart.

Beth Bolden does an amazing job of developing the relationship between Kian and Bastian in the background of the previous three books. These men are champions at pining, so it is incredibly satisfying for them to FINALLY have their own book. Bastian and Kian are some of my favorite characters, I love their snark and energy – the way they push each other yet fit so seamlessly makes them the perfect for each other. There was drama, humor, tenderness, and romance throughout this book. One of my favorite moments was the scene where Kian finally breaks the unresolved sexual tension that’s been simmering between himself and Bastian—it was hilarious and hot.

Wyatt Baker is the narrated for the audiobook and does a fantastic job. He has such a smooth and easy voice to listen to, and he knows how to convey emotions and actions with his tones. I can feel the energy in his performance which made this audiobook a really enjoyable listen. I had no trouble following along and keeping the characters straight. The audiobook production was well done and there were no glitches or outside noise that would jar a listener out of the story.

Overall, this was a great book that I enjoyed immensely. I highly recommend it.

Nobody's all good or bad, and nobody's all light or dark. Every human being has so many different aspects and facets to them. And there can be something noble and something really dark and dangerous going on in a person all at the same time.” ~ Anna Gunn

Kian graduated at the top of his class in culinary school. While the other students were applying to work at Terroir, Kian had his sights set on more lofty destinations. Kian had only tried for restaurants in Europe. That is, until Chef Bastian Aquino came to his school. Even with Aquino’s reputation, one encounter with him and Kian knew he did not want to work for anyone else.

Kian is excited to work at Terroir. He can hardly wait to show Chef Aquino what he knows about cooking but, right away, Aquino tells him is to forget everything he has learned in school. Rather than discouraging Kian, it makes him even more determined. When Chef acknowledges his attraction and admits he feels one too, Kian’s hopes rise, only to fall when Aquino announces that a relationship between them is impossible. Still, Kian is ambitious; he works hard, learns, and does whatever he can to prove to his boss that he is capable. No matter how harsh or demeaning, Kian soaks up the lessons Aquino teaches him. Kian sees everything as a challenge, a test to see how much he can take.

A long time ago, Chef Bastian Aquino slept with one of his interns. It was such a disaster that he swore never to do it again. For this reason, he keeps Kian at arm's length, literally and figuratively. Instead of caving in under pressure, Kian perseveres. It almost kills Bastian to keep his hands off of Kian, but, somehow, he does. Bastian strives for perfection. His employees often frustrate him and he reacts by losing his temper, throwing plates, or worse, reearning his nickname of Bastard. His resolve falls apart when Kian comes over in the middle of the night, determined not to be denied the sexual relationship they want any longer. There is no turning back.

Beth does an excellent job of showing a side of her characters that isn’t usually apparent, hopefully making them easier to understand. She tried this with Bastian, but for me, it didn’t work. I hate a bully and, even though there may have been reasons for his inappropriate behavior, there were no excuses. Also, Kian wasn’t who I expected him to be. I knew Kian was ambitious and driven, but I thought he would be softer, not as harsh. Their relationship made little sense to me, but in the end, all that mattered was that, despite all odds, they found happiness. Thanks, Beth, for rounding out the series by giving these remarkable men their happily-ever-after. I will miss them a lot!

Beth Bolden's Indulge Me is a messy and complicated romance amidst the messy and complicated world of kitchen politics. And I enjoyed the hell out of it.

To say this romance is a slow burn is an understatement. Seb becomes Kian's mentor, making for awkward moments, as the attraction is high between them.
They're in a no win situation, as Kian is learning lots from Seb, but they're both sad. This part is so damn depressing, as you can feel their pain, and the sexual tension. However, adding to the beauty of this story is the intensity of events once they are together. Their romance is full of longing and want, temptation, and so much time wasted fighting their feelings.

And once together, these two aren't going to have things easy. They need to fight to find the correct juggle between control in and out of the kitchen. It's no secret that a chef rules his kitchen, as this is perfectly explored.

As I said, it's messy. But it's also intriguing and fun. These two love hard and fight harder. Bastian's hard-ass, gruff personally is splendid, and Kian is just so damn loveable.

This compelling story is about love, and finding something important other than work. It's a tale of sexual frustration at it's max. There's tremendous personal growth in both men, as they deal with learning to give up control.

Beth Bolden once again impresses me with this insta attraction, that results in a slow-burn romance. Indulge Me, a May to December romance that's also mentor/student, this book is full of some wonderful tropes. Ultimately, their story revolves around control, and the extreme need for control, and it's well worth a read.

I have not read the first three books in this series, so I think I missed a few things that were essential to the book as a whole. I do plan on going back and reading the three previous books and then re-reading this one to see if that will affect my review (probably so). About 30% of the book was devoted to a sort of character bio for one of the MC's, but I felt it was lacking additional input on the other MC. There were a few things I think went over my head. So, I would definitely recommend reading the series in order just for that.

I liked the writing and the way the two character acted. I loved reading books set in the culinary world. The two MC's are strong characters in their own right, and they both are very hard on themselves. It was interesting seeing how their personalities clashed, which would explain why they felt the need to push aside their attraction for each other for as long as they did. Their connection was evident and I was really rooting for this couple, even if Bastian did rub me the wrong way at times. I felt for Kian and could tell how much he idolized Bastian, but at the same time he was determined to carve a path out for himself based on his own merit. I respected that attribute within his character.

I enjoyed this read and will definitely go back and read the series. I cannot understand why I did not read the other three before.

🎧 : Indulge Me by Beth Bolden

⭐⭐⭐⭐
🌶️🌶️🌶️

This book takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions within the restaurant industry, centering around the notorious control freak, Chef Bastian Aquino, and his special assistant, Kian Reynolds. The tension between them is palpable, and the storyline beautifully explores the complexities of their relationship.

The characters are so well-developed, especially Kian, who struggles with his unrequited love for his older boss. The two protagonists made the logical choice to abstain from pursuing a romantic relationship for professional reasons, but love proves it can't be confined by logic or professionalism.

The author skillfully captures the agony of forbidden love, making you root for Kian and Bastian to defy the boundaries they've set. The internal conflicts and struggles are depicted with such authenticity that it kept me hooked until the very end.

The narrative beautifully unfolds, and as Kian decides he's done waiting on the sidelines, you can't help but cheer for his courage. The book offers a perfect blend of passion, heartache, and a dash of rebellion against societal norms.

Beth Bolden's writing style is engaging, making "Indulge Me" a captivating read that tugs at your heartstrings. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a well-crafted romance with a touch of defiance! 📖💕 #IndulgeMe #BethBolden #BookReview #RomanceNovel #bookstagram #mmromance #booktok #booktoker

I am so sad that this series is over as every book has been better than the last and Indulge Me is amazing and definitely my favorite. I have loved Kian since the first book and hated Bastian even though I had high hopes for him to be redeemed at some point in the series. Their story is well-written, emotional, sweet, surprising, intense, has a few interesting twists, is full of drama and angst, includes glimpses of the couples from the previous books and the characters have incredible depth. Kian and Bastian are immediately drawn to each other from their very first meeting but because of their work relationship they spend two years denying and avoiding their feelings for each other. When they finally succumb to the intense attraction they feel for each other their troubles are far from over and they face some nearly insurmountable issues that will affect their personal and work lives. Neither of them has a lot of experience with relationships and Bastian's over the top personality doesn't make it any easier for them. There are a lot of things I love about this book but one of the best parts is Bastien's mom and how much he loves and respects her. The ending is absolutely perfect and wraps up the whole series beautifully. I can't wait to see what Beth Bolden has in store for us next.

I approached this book with some trepidation, having read about Kian’s crush on his difficult boss through the last three books, and I must say, I was impressed. I liked the way the book went from their first meeting through to the present of the series. I was worried a lot about the power imbalance, but I felt like it was dealt with deftly and honestly. The solid two years of trying to keep it professional made a big difference to me, given the age gap on top of the power imbalance.

The two POVs really convinced me of their strong, genuine feelings (even if they weren’t always good at expressing them), and while I was genuinely upset with what happened with Mark (and how both Bastian and Kian solidly messed up there in different ways), it felt very real to me to have real consequences of the power imbalance and messy reality that they had to work through. I genuinely rooted for them to be together and believed they would be good together.

I also loved Bastian’s relationship with his mother and the insights into how he sees what he does (and acknowledges his flaws). I loved how Kian (almost) always saw how much benefit he was bringing to Bastian, which I think also helped me feel like they were actually a more balanced couple than they looked from the outside. I liked the symmetry of ending with Miles and Evans’ wedding.

Wow it was really good to see how Kian and Bastian's story turns out. We have gotten pieces and snippets through the other guys's stories and experiences and it was always hard to believe that things would turn out good for them both. Bastian is a really hard man to like, he has lots of rough edges and even harder walls to try and get around. He doesn't let anyone in at all and he doesn't accept anything less than perfection. That is why Kian is so perfect for him. They are alike in many ways but the glaring difference is that he is softer and more mellow, he has the ability to be a hard man but that isn't all of him. Together they make a good team they make each other want to be the best version of themselves that they can be. Bastian makes Kian strive for more and want to be better than he is. Kian tempers some of Bastian's rough edges, makes him not quite as volatile as he has been. They have great chemistry both in and out of the kitchen and they have lots of fun doing what they love, and doing it together. We get to see a side of Bastian that we haven't yet and see what is going on behind the scenes that they others haven't been aware of. What an amazing conclusion to the series I loved it.

🍴🔥Heat and tension in the kitchen; does it have to remain thus confined?😕

Great ending to this series about the lives and loves of some hot California chefs. Finally, the full story of Kian and Bastian's tense relationship, from the day they first met. This pair have been individually important in the lives of all of the chefs in this series and they SO deserved their own book. I really adored Kian with his devotion to perfection in the restaurant kitchen and his unwavering affection for larger than life chef/owner boss Bastian. Bastian is still, for me, a work in progress in the likeability stakes, but thank goodness for his openness to a softening of his personal boundaries and mom Celeste's wise words and support.

This work was well-written and, though there are definite steamy intervals, it's more than that; it's a story of respect and admiration in their professional lives evolving into stronger, romantic emotions irrespective of their plans. It also includes an epilogue that reunites the main characters from all four books in the series for a happy event.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

So this is the end of the series and it is for sure the installment that best represents the spirit of "Kitchen Gods", because in this story the kitchen and the dynamics between all the people working in a kitchen is the ever present background of the development of the love story between Bastian and Kian: the first man acts and thinks like a God and the second worships a God and simultaneously thinks nobody can do better than him.

I have read all the previous books of this series, and I honestly think that you would miss a lot of Kian and Bastian's story if you haven't read them. In fact, I was initially disappointed of the fact that the author dedicated 30% of the book to the first two years of Kian at Terroir, but did not offer a description from Kian POV of the events that had occurred in that time-frame and were part of the first three books. If you didn't read the previous stories, it is hard to understand from this book, why Bastian is called the Bastard, because you do not read about his interactions with other characters.

Kian and Bastian are two very strong characters, very hard on themselves, expecting only the highest standards from the other man and living in their own bubble, keeping most all other people away. And all these elements have an impact on the development of their romantic relationship, mostly by keeping romance out of their life. So don’t expect roses, intertwined hands, heart-shaped eyes, and similar sweetnesses - these two men have such a strong will that they are able to not give in to their desire for two long years just developing and nourishing their intellectual connection.

I still don’t like Bastian that much, but everyone has the right to love and be loved, and Kian is just the right person to uncover the smoother, human side of this kitchen god.

I have to admit that I haven't read the previous books in this series. I was able to understand what was going on with the other MCS and the flow of the book was easy to read. Kian and Bastin story is so believable and it reflects on some of the relationships that are going on now. Bastian is a gentleman who has years of experience, always in control, don't know how to express his feelings, and also scared of getting hurt. Kian is an inexperienced young man who idolized, been in love with and has a general respect for Bastian. He also wants to prove to Bastian that he handle the restaurants after all his other chefs have quit.
The story has angst, romance, sexy times, and I love the fact that Kian took matters in his own hands. The attraction that these two have for each is so intense and explosive. Bastian being the man that he is had to lose Kian to make him realize how much loves and need Kian in his life. Kian trying to prove a point Bastian so much that he loses sight of what is important to him. Overall it's a great read and wonderful end to a series.

I was intrigued by Kian and Bastian's relationship since book one. I loved all the little glimpses of them that we got in the previous books. I enojed all the books, I thought that book three would be my favorite but my God I fel in love with this one. I loved being in Bastian's head and see what the man that everyone hated thought. We got to really know him in this book and he ended up being one of my favorite characters in the series. Kian surprised me. I thought he was just a lovesick puppy but I ended up loving his personality. And he was so much stronger and clever and opinionated than he appeared ( to me at least) in the previous books. Their chemistry was absolutely explosive but what I liked the most were the tender moments between them. I'm so glad that we got to see the scene where Kian was injured from Bastian's pov. I also appreciated that the author didn't make it easy for the two of them to get together. They had to fight for their happily ever after and I had the best time reading their story. Great conclusion to the series.

I have been waiting for this one since book one, and boy, was the best saved for last. I always KNEW there was more to Bastian that all those around him saw.

So, to those of you familiar with the Kitchen Gods series, this one is Kian's story...the lone roommate left after everyone else seems to have paired off. Kian is quite young, a fresh faced, fresh out of school kid. But he see's something in Bastian that makes him want to get to know him. But these two men do not jump into anything. If anything, their relationship is a slow burn, but oh so worth it in the end.

I loved that this book is about 50% things we already knew, but from Kian and Chef's perspective. Which was good because it has been a while since I have read the other 3. Sometimes I was like oh yeah, I remember when that happened....And it was nice to see that Chef didn't live up to his nickname ALL the time....

I gave this 5 stars because I absolutely enjoyed Kian and Bastian's journey!
