I received an advance ebook copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for review.

Debauchery and the Earl by Mary Lancaster is the fourth and final book of the Gentlemen of Pleasure series. The infamously rakish Earl of Calton has been named as the father of Josephine’s sister’s unborn child. When a masked beauty holds him at gunpoint and orders him to marry her sister, he is astonished. He swears he is not the father. Calton and Josephine form a sort of alliance to figure out who exactly the father is to save her sister from ruin. Along the way, Calton and Josephine develop strong feelings for each other.

This book starts out with a bang. Well, almost. Josephine quickly realizes that Calton cannot be the father, so she doesn’t shoot him. This book definitely brings the mystery and romance together for a quick read!

Calton and Josephine’s romance was a joy to watch. Colton is an unrepentant rake, and Josephine has vowed that Calton will do the right thing and marry her pregnant sister. Unfortunately, Josephine quickly discovers she has the wrong man. Colton is inexplicably drawn to Josephine and offers to help the family; falling in love wasn’t in their plan.

Calton is a scoundrel with a heart of gold. His kindness and respect toward Josephine and her sister were sweet. Josephine will do anything for her sister. She acts before thinking at times. Calton and Josephine both have emphatic hearts. The passionate exchanges between Calton and Josephine are sweetly sensual. I loved watching the romance develop. The plot stole my heart, and I read this novel quickly.

Debauchery And The Earl is the fourth book in the Gentleman Of Pleasure series. I have read several of Mary Lancaster’s books, and each one has enchanted me. Calton and Josephine’s journey to their happily-ever-after was a pleasure to read. This entire series is wonderfully romantic.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through Netgalley and the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

After privately accosting Calton, Josephine learns he is not quite as bad as he appears. Calton then is asked by Josephine’s brother to keep an eye on her during this Season. Josephine’s impetuous behavior intrigues him. While trying to solve the mystery of who is the father of her sister’s baby, they learn to trust and love each other. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.

You know the episode of glee where the cheerios are doing flips and tricks and there are people doing BMX tricks and everything is on fire. The song ends and Sue goes "...I'm bored."
That's me with this book.
Like there were so many great tropes and fun things, but I personally could not get into it. If you're looking for a fun and easy historical romance, I recommend.
Thank you NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for the arc.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley and this is my freely given opinion.

The bored and weary Earl of Calton finds himself at gun point when the mysterious woman he brings back to his hotel room, from a masked ball, holds him up and demands he marries her sister, whom he is accused of impregnating. Josephine, though acting pretty rashly, is a pretty likeable character for her loyalty to her sister, and her bold intrepidness.

Needless to say, this piques his interest and he finds himself intrigued by the miss, enough to find out who she is and enmesh himself in her family drama.

Josephine and her sister Penelope are the two daughters of a British diplomat, who have travelled with their father throughout Europe, and have just returned to England and recently introduced to Society. Penelope is pregnant, and when pushed by her sister Josephine, states the father is the Earl, never thinking her sister would rashly try to pursue the Earl to make him take responsibility. She lied to hide the real identity of the father.

The focus of this short novella is the developing relationship between Josephine and Calton, with a secondary love story between Penelope and the father of her child. There is also a further suspense/drama with two villains working against the two MCs, including someone from Calton's rakish past.

This was a nice, steamy novella, where the so called unrepentent rake turns out to be a man who believes in honour, love, and family after all.

The fourth book in the series It it’s easily read on its own even though we do catch up with previous characters from this series & the Pleasure Gardens series - which I love. I loved both Calton & Josephine who fell hard & fast for each other but it took sometime for them especially Calton to realise how deep their feelings were. There’s Josephine's sister Helena's predicament to be solved & threats to be turned aside all against the backdrop of a house party. I particularly loved how strongly both Calton & Josephine felt about family. A fun, well written romance which I devoured in a sitting, whilst there wasn’t an epilogue (I love an epilogue) the final paragraph was a lovely roundup to the book
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Thank you NetGalley and Dragonblade publishing for this ARC!

This fourth installment of the Gentlemen of Pleasure Series delves into the story of the Earl of Calton and Ms. Josephine Blackwell. Right from the start, these two meet and hit off on a challenging, seductive encounter. However, when Josephine reveals the dilemma her elder sister is in, Calton uncharacteristically decides to step in and offer up some solutions. As they work together to tackle this problem, some interfering characters come into the mix and make their lives much more difficult.

Mary Lancaster jam packed so much excitement and fun into a short book, without making it feel rushed or overdone, while also creating such a beautiful bond between the two main characters. The trust that they had with each other was spectacular. Even the romance going on with the side characters was so enjoyable to read about. I loved every second of this book and read it in one sitting. This can be read as a stand alone. I definitely recommend giving this a chance!

Although laced with some plotting and intrigue, this is nevertheless a heartwarming and witty romance. Calton has carefully nurtured his reputation as a rake, having vowed never to marry after the death of his brother. However, he is suffering from a severe bout of ennui and has plans to remove himself to the Continent, with the hopes of reviving his spirits. When a young woman invites him to dance with her at the Maida Pleasure Gardens, his interest is piqued, but when she pulls a gun on him, he is definitely no longer bored. Josephine quickly realizes that she has made an error of judgment. Instead of the rake she had heard about, she discovers in Calton a gentleman who is not only chivalrous but also compassionate and kind. Calton takes it upon himself to help Josephine find the father of her sister's child and in the process discovers feelings for Josephine that take him by surprise. I enjoyed this lighthearted and entertaining novel, which although part of a series is a standalone and comes to a sweet conclusion. I received a copy of this novel through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Lord Calton is bored. Jaded. And, if he'd ever dig deep enough to admit it, lonely. He's floating through life from one mistress and brandy bottle to another, but the days are all starting to feel the same, until Josephine bursts into his life with bravado, fierce protectiveness...and a pistol. He's not quite sure what to make of this unusual young woman, but he's definitely not bored anymore!

This had some sweet moments and some slightly spicy interludes, but I found myself wanting more. I wanted to know more about Calton and Josephine and why they'd become the people they were. I wanted more of the lovely chemistry between them. It would have been fun to see a bit more of their future. This was a fun, low-angst read and I'd definitely recommend it for a pleasant diversion, but it could definitely have been expanded a bit.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

The Earl of Carlton knows that he can seduce Josephine but he restrains himself so she has a choice and after a period of ennui he wants her to choose him and start a life together. He's a kind man and uses his power wisely to bring HEA to not just him but Josephine's sister.

Great read....such a shame that currently this is the last of the series. Gorgeous covers.

Even though book 4 of the series, it is a stand alone story.

I loved the spunk of the h! She sets out to protect her sister and make the man who got her pregnant pay. The way we meet the h/H is funny and sets the stage for more mishaps.

There is humor but also suspenseful moments. I liked the h/H and they slowly find their way to each other. I know the blurb states this is scorching hot in the bedroom area, but I found it only heat level 3 out of 5. First mild foreplay at over 75% into the story, outside of marriage. The lovemaking within marriage, at 99% into the story and mildly described.

The H is a known rake and likes his women a lot. I loved that the h comforted him if he would be faithful. So many times author's make the H to be a huge womanizer and the h never questions if he'd honor their vows. Kudos to the author because it's a pet peeve of mine when the h plays dumb.

Villain who is easily lead and really his reason for wanting the h was lame. An ex mistress that didn't cause too much trouble. Secondary story with the h's sister was an added bonus.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, stand alone, HEA, romantic and a tad of spice. I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you some tidbits to decide to read this story and series. (ljb)

*I received a free ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review*

This may be my favorite Mary Lancaster book so far! I really liked that Calton was established as a having more to him than his rakish ways because then this wasn't the typical story about the woman reforming the bad boy and was more about two people seeing who the other really was. Josephine gets to see that Calton is really a caring man who looks out for others and he gets to see that she is a woman who will fiercely defend/support those she loves. I also liked the secondary story involving Helena and Talley. One of my favorite scenes is when Josephine yells at Talley because she basically says everything I was thinking as a reader. The villains of the piece of awful people and add just the right amount of tension to the story. There is also a good amount humor to keep things from becoming too much of a downer.

This was a cute, fast read that's light on actual steam but a fun plot nonetheless. If anything, my biggest complaint is that I wanted a bit more of the book because the leads fall in love very quickly. But other than that, the novel is just a lot of fun. Calton and Josephine meet and are instantly drawn together but there's a distinct lack of conventionality in their meeting, as Josephine aims a pistol at him and tells him that he has to marry her sister.

Pieces quickly come together that Calton is not the man who got her sister pregnant which paves the way for the two of them to figure out how best to help her sister, Helena, and in the meantime, fall in love with each other. Things are further complicated by Calton's ex-mistress and a scheming suitor for Josephine. It's a fun, fast paced read.

Nothing new with the "reformed rake" trope here, but Mary Lancaster is a skilled writer and this book is simply a great mood-lifter. The steamiest scene, for me, honestly might be in the beginning, when Calton and Josephine waltz and then he walks her to his rooms after the masquerade. Nicely done banter and sexual tension, with things almost getting out of hand between the MC's. The rest is slow burn, but a refreshing change of pace from MMC's who can never control their raging hormones. For conflict, there is a subplot involving a conniving spurned lover and her titled toady, and the unrequited relationship between Josephine's sister and another character. Both subplots are wrapped up in a pretty satisfactory manner while being on the low-angst end of the scale.

Quibble: This could have easily been a longer book; I would have loved more details about Calton's relationship with his younger brother and a bit more about Josephine's past as well. She seemed to be the overshadowed sister but she was almost overprotective.

Bottom line: this is a romantic Regency that's perfect for a cozy weekend. (And, yes, I could picture the cover model as Carlton in every scene in the book.)

Steam level: 2ish; the spiciness is tastefully written and not long-winded if you prefer closed-door sex.

This is Book four of the Gentlemen of Pleasure series. I have read almost all the books so far and have been enjoying the series. This latest addition also did not disappoint. Carlton and Joesphine meet in a rather unconventional way. Josephine holds him at gunpoint demanding he marry her sister. You see, he is a well-known rake, and Josephine's sister names him as the baby's father. Carlton doesn't know what to do with this, because he in fact has never met Josephine or her sister before. Josephine's sister remains quite stubborn and will not reveal the father, so Carlton and Josephine then work together to solve the mystery of who the father of her sister's baby could be.
Carlton, can't explain it, but he is quite drawn to Josephine and the more time he spends in her company the more he loses his heart to her. Josephine is equally drawn to him, and the love that begins to blossom between them was sweet yet passionate.
This was a an amazingly romantic and intriguing story and I really enjoyed it. It was an entertaining, fun, and steamy read. The characters were likable and I enjoyed their witty banter. An enjoyable story and I look forward to continuing the series. I received a complimentary copy from Dragonblade Publishing via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I enjoyed this story a lot. Lord Calton gets approached by a masked beauty on a mission. Her name is Josephine and it turns out that some of her assumptions are erroneous. But she is intrigued by him, and he is intrigued by her, so he promises to help her with her problem, if possible. He has a reputation as a rake but comes across pretty sweet and protective, even if he makes her tingle. There is a subplot concerning her sister and another involving some Other Woman/Other Man intrigue that gets resolved without any attacks of unreasonable jealousy.

I liked this a lot, mostly because I liked the hero. My only complaint is that the story was too short, I would have read more about these two characters.

Steam level: The book cover might give you the wrong idea. Not saying there aren't some shenanigans but probably less consummation that you might expect from a book with Debauchery, Pleasure and a gentleman with bed hair on the cover. The episodes of desire are briefly described, mostly to establish that they do indeed fancy each other that way.

There is a character who gets introduced as George but his name is Cyril ever after.

I got a Netgalley copy and this is a voluntary review.

When Josephine’s sister reveals that the Earl of Calton is the father of her unborn child, she rush to confront him, only to have him deny it when she points a gun at him. Calton, whilst world weary, is both astonished and intrigued by Josephine when she confronts him. So begins a tempestuous and uneasy alliance as Calton and Josephine try to unravel the mystery of the real father’s identity and how to save her stubborn sister from ruin. Neither Josephine nor Carlton plan on becoming involved, let alone falling in love.
I so enjoyed this story and loved both characters. My one disappointment was that this story was just too short. Carlton has his demons, but he treats Josephine with such tenderness, that it wasn’t too difficult to fall in love with him. Josephine is determined and protective of her older sister, and her tenacity was endearing. This couple would be my favourite so far this year.
Well worth reading and I look forward to the next book in this series.

3.5.Pleasant fast read. For a shorter novel it had enough sweetness, character building, dash of drama and romance for me to believe in their HEA... And that cover 😍

Story = h seduces then holds H at gunpoint to force him to marry her sister - yeah she didn't think that through very well. Luckily for her he's charmed by her audacity and instead of easily getting her hanged for attempted murder of an earl, he decides to help her instead.

Heroine = despite initial ridiculousness, she's calm and steady and loyal and intelligent. I thought it sweet how she was willing to give up everything for her sister, and appreciated her honesty with wanting him. Is it nuts to fall in love in 1 week? Can she trust him to not cheat on her? Did she say these things outloud to him? Yes!

Hero = refreshing to read a male character when confronted with something that changed his mind on marriage - he doesn't curse and deny and punish the world. He just goes - well, looks like I'll have to marry her. That simple. 90% of HR heros could not 🙈

Villains were a bit cartoonish and did not get their comeuppance but oh well.

Enjoyable quick read. Sweet ending.

First off let me say the cover is really nice. That sexy vision of a man, laying on the bed...looking all arrogant and what not...WOOO WEEE..had me alllll excited for what I expected to be one HOT and helluva story.

And well... 🤷🏾‍♀️...Eh...it wasn't bad...it wasn't great...it just...was. It was entertaining enough although I found myself skimming some of the pages. I liked most of the characters...especially our two MCs...it's just that the storyline was not that exciting to me. I had high hopes for it because the opening two chapters were really engaging. I was falling in love with Chalton..who continued to win me over throughout the book.

The premise was simple, there are two sisters who love each other dearly, one who finds herself pregnant and about to be ruined. Unwilling to see this happen, the other, younger sister sets out to force the scoundrel who did the deed to marry her...setting the stage for one misunderstanding after the other.

It was a fairly quick read with a couple of laughs. It was a pleasant way to pass a couple of hours, but not a book to make me sing from the rafters. But hey... different strokes and all that...so you may LOVE IT.

This was a quick and fun read from new to me author Mary Lancaster. I haven't read any of the prior books in this series but I didn't feel lost; it is a true standalone. Josephine's sister names notorious rake Earl of Calton as the father of her baby. Josephine takes matters in her own hands, points a pistol at Calton, and demands he marry her sister. But Calton has never heard of her sister. He is, however, intrigued by and attracted to Josephine, which is why he agrees to help her figure out who has actually fathered her sister's child.

I liked this book a lot. Calton and Josephine work well as a couple and watching them fall in love is borderline adorable. It was fairly obvious who really fathered the sister's child, and there is a wonderful confrontation between said father and Josephine. The villain and villainess are easily dispatched and help Calton and Josephine fall even more in love.

My biggest issue with this book is that I could not stop calling Calton, Carlton. Even writing this review, I had to go back and correct myself several times.

4 stars. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions herein are my own.

Calton and Josephine

In a rather unusual beginning, Josephine allows Calton to lead her to his room where she pulls a gun out of her reticule and aims it at him. Josephine expects the rake to follow her and marry her sister before she is noticeably ruined. Calton denies fatherhood, then decides to help Josephine and her sister in any way he can. Along the way the two of them start to fall in love with one another. Everything is not all smooth sailing as a nefarious noble has his eyes on Josephine and a spurned lover is out after Calton. Calton and Josephine have to navigate around those two who have become cohorts and lovers while trying to bring together Josephine’s sister and the father of her baby. I enjoyed this story by Mary Lancaster (which was my first) with a spunky, proactive, caring heroine. If anything, the story breezed by too quickly. A good read for a lazy afternoon.

Romance, Threats, and a Mystery:
A masked ball, a seductive lady and a handsome duke had me intrigued right away.
Josephine had a dire reason to meet the Duke of Calton unbeknownst to him and we soon find out from Josephine there is way more to this dramatic mystery romance than we first thought.
We follow all of the cast of characters through many difficult situations before some find what they are looking for, but a couple do not.
I truly enjoyed all of the dancing, sweet confessions, desirous passion, a few chuckles. A scary threat to handle. A lovely surprise ending and the authors description of their lives into the future was heartwarming.

Fantastic!

I love stories which make me smile with lots of fun characters and steam and this story hits them all!

The Earl of Carlton and Josephine’s story is full of mystery, fun, romance and of course is steamy.
Josephine is convinced Carlton is the father to her sister’s unborn baby and demands that he marries her. Carlton has no idea who they are and agrees to help Josephine find out the mystery of the identity of the baby’s father.

Working together to solve the mystery they both fall in love. A really enjoyable read which I couldn’t put down until it was finished. Even the secondary characters added an extra element to the story.

Definitely a 5* read. I would highly recommend you read this story, you won’t be disappointed.

Josephine Blackwell loves her sister. Maida Gardens is the place she decides to confront the man Helena named seduced her and left her with child. The Earl of Calton isn't concerned about the pistol pointed at his chest. He's not the culprit. Josephine believes him. Intrigued by the mysterious lady, curiosity and needing a distraction, he decides to discover the lady's name and offer his help to find the man responsible for her sister's seduction. Be still my heart! Calton was a delightful surprise with his gentleness, understanding, protection and subtle humor. When he saw his life as boring, Josephine gave him something he needed and wanted, herself.

I originally bought this book because I liked the cover! I also have read several of Mary Lancaster’s books and have never been disappointed. This is a relatively quick book to read because I didn’t want to put it down. The romance was nice and the sexual scenes were well done without being overly explicit. I definitely enjoyed the book #4 of the “Gentlemen of Pleasure “ as I have already read the one about the artist (Dornan) and Aline. I don’t always read books of series in the correct order, so I’ll be reading # 1 “The Devil and the Viscount” soon. Enjoy this series, they are all good. (I was just a complete goof over this cover. LoL) 🥰

I loved it! The last thing you expect from a debauched rake is for him to wind up the pining hero. Calton fell so hard, so fast for Josephine and it was beautiful. I absolutely adored watching their romance. His line, “This moment is not over.” rings true as a promise not just to her but to the reader, knowing there is so much more to come. I looked forward to each page with eager anticipation. To learn their path to happiness, but also that of her sister Helena and her hero (whom I won’t name), You’ll have to read that one for yourself. I highly recommend this book.

When a masked woman holds a gun to you demanding you marry her sister, there is not telling what will happen! An entertaining start to a romance with a little suspense and intrigue thrown in!

Carlton cannot believe it when Josephine mistakes him for the father of her sister's baby, when he has no idea who either of them are... Although known as a rake, his true personality comes out as he works with her to find out the truth.

A great addition to this series that will keep you smiling until the end!

The fourt in Gentlemen of Pleasure series does not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoy when a book grips you right from the start and takes you on a sigh worthy journey as in Debauchery and the Earl. Mary Lancaster has written a story filled with remarkable emotions, unforgettable characters that are well thought out and each and everyone comes across clearly as their individual personalities become more than just part of the tale and a strong plot. With setting descriptions and action sequences are wonderfully vivid which brings this read together perfectly and will keep you reading to the end.

While the title (and even the cover) suggests drunken, naked parties, there is actually very little of this. There are some tasteful veiled intimate scenes and some drama about a hidden pregnancy but nothing outright. I did like the gumption of Josephine when she goes to confront Calton about his supposed dalliance with her sister, Helene. Calton was actually a sweetheart despite his rakish past. The “I love you” revelation was pretty quick and sudden. This is a quick fun read but nothing outstanding.
