Dr. Thomas Joseph Malone

Dr. Thomas Joseph Malone, 83, of LaGrange, GA, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 5, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Dr. Malone was born on March 27, 1939 in Hattiesburg, MS, son of the late Horace Malone and Claudia Mae Talbert Malone. He is a graduate of Pearl River College where he received his BS degree in pre-engineer and also a graduate of Georgia Tech where he received his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and his PhD in Chemistry. Dr. Malone is a U.S. Veteran and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and was very instrumental in securing the land where St. Peter’s Catholic Church now sits. Dr. Malone was President and Chief Operating Officer of Milliken and Company and retired after over 40 years of service.

In addition to his parents, Dr. Malone was preceded in death by his siblings, Katie Hughes, James Malone, Claude Malone, Charles Malone, and Ben Malone.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Patricia Stewart Malone; children, Debbie Bazen, Tammy Strickland (Michael), Scott Malone, Lisa Rockwell and Kristen Malone; grandchildren, Mekenzie Bazen, Sydney Bazen, Coleman Bazen, Ashlynn Meyer (Matthew), Caitlynn Croft, Megan Marsh (Nick), Payton Strickland, Jackson Malone, Hampton Malone, Amelia Rockwell and Walker Rockwell; great-grandchild, Carter Marsh; brothers, Sidney Malone, Cornell Malone and Larry Malone; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Father Tim Gadziala officiating. A private burial will follow the service. The family will receive friends at the Del’avant Event Center immediately following the funeral service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Malone, Sidney Malone, Cornell Malone, Larry Malone, Gene Gatwood, Ray McPhail, Charlie Amacker and Wade Stewart. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Coleman Bazen, Payton Strickland, Jackson Malone, Hampton Malone, Walker Rockwell, Matthew Meyer, Nick Marsh and Michael Strickland.
