Gerald Dean "Buddy" Felmet

SPARTANBURG, SC-- Gerald Dean "Buddy" Felmet, 71, won his battle with cancer and went home to be with his Lord, Saturday, May 22, 2010.

Born Sunday, July 10, 1938 in Gaffney, SC, Mr. Felmet was a son of the late J.D. and Daisy Thomas Felmet and a grandson of the late William M. and Johnnie V. Vess Felmet of Converse and the late James J. and Mary N. Johnson Thomas of Gaffney. Mr. Felmet was the beloved husband of the late Shirley V. Johnson Felmet for 39 years. Mrs. Felmet preceded him in death on August 28, 2001. Mr. Felmet was retired from Roebuck Builders after 15 years of service. He was previously employed with Fiske-Carter Construction, Beaumont Mills and Spartan Automotive. Mr. Felmet was a member of Una First Free Will Baptist Church.

Mr. Felmet is survived by three sons, Jimmy Felmet and wife Renee, Rusty Felmet and wife Tammy, and Chris Felmet and wife Kathy, all of Spartanburg; nine grandchildren, Tabatha and Keven Smith, Shirley and John Ellason, Justin Felmet, Travis and Samantha Felmet, Richie Felmet, Tyler Felmet, Nikki Felmet, Jason and Josh Lawter, all of Spartanburg; 11 great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Dalton, and Carter Smith, Abby, Emma, and Anna Ellason, Alyssa and Kelsey Felmet, Kaylynn Felmet, Sophia Felmet, Caesin Felmet-Atkins; three sisters, Carolyn Gilstrap and husband Ronnie, Linda Prevette and husband Butch, Judy Fowler and husband Ricky, all of Spartanburg; Ann Easler of Trenton, SC; a brother, Tommy Felmet and wife Jennie of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters-in-law, Betty Waldrop and husband Jimmy of Pauline, Francis Hitt and Lynn F. McArthur, both of Spartanburg; two brothers-in-law, Joe Johnson and wife Linda of Pauline, and Mike Johnson of Spartanburg; and a special friend, Nancy Jordan of Chesnee. He was predeceased by a grandson, James Arthur Felmet; two brothers, Steve and Johnny Felmet; three sisters, Mary N. Felmet, Norman J. Dalton, and Evelyn E. Fowler; and a brother-in-law, Cecil Johnson.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 24, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dunbar Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Una First Free Will Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Cash and the Rev. Gary Adkins.

Burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at the home. They wish to express their appreciation to Regional Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Una First Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 2130 Caldwell Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301; or Regional Hospice, 120 Heywood Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
