Paul O'Connor

Biography

Paul O’Connor started his career in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in 2013. He has worked in Somalia, New York and Brussels, and has had various roles in London, most recently leading the Political Team covering Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Maldives.

Before joining the FCDO, Paul worked in education and humanitarian aid work.

Deputy Head of Mission, Kosovo

The deputy head of mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key adviser to the ambassador or high commissioner. The deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas embassy or high commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the ambassador as chargé d’affaires. A senior ranking deputy may also take the title minister. Smaller missions may not have a deputy head.
