Chris Pine Just Lost His Hair God Status

With a pair of clippers and no reason, the actor’s trademark mane is gone.

Chris Pine shaved his head. Blame it on summer, blame it on the hot new trend, blame it on the actor not wanting to have to spend X amount of time in the morning doing his hair. Whatever the reason, one of Hollywood's best heads of hair is gone.

This is a pretty abrupt about-face for Pine, who had one of last year's best haircuts (which we dubbed the "Next Generation Wave") and who always looks impeccable from a style perspective, and that's thanks, in no small part, to his pitch-perfect grooming. From clean-shaven to enviable salt-n-pepper scruff to even making the handlebar mustache work, Chris Pine has always balanced his facial-hair hijinks with a perfectly coiffed 'do up top. But yesterday in Las Vegas, while promoting his upcoming role in Wonder Woman, the 36-year-old debuted a shorn scalp.

Pine explained to USA Today that he did it himself and, no, it's not for a role. Get this: He was sick and stuck in bed killing time watching Homeland and was inspired by Rupert Friend's buzz cut, and decided to take matters into his own damn hands and do the same thing. Maybe it was the Robitussin® talking, but damn, most Hollywood A-listers don't just up and shave off their own signature locks. Well, luckily, he wears it well (paired with a knit polo, which is 👍🏽👏🏾)—and hair does, after all, grow back.
