Why use this template?
When you are first going to market with a new business or a product, a checklist will help you stay focused to get the right things done in the right order.
Your plan doesn’t have to be perfect, but you want to have a plan. Otherwise, you might end up in a place you never intended.
What I have found running sales and marketing teams is that it’s easy to get caught up executing the day to day tasks and neglect to plan for your longer-term growth trajectory.
This is a free go-to-market template for B2B SaaS companies, but will likely work for any software company these days. When you apply this GTM checklist effectively, you’ll experience peace of mind knowing that you have done the right things to hit your growth plans.
What's inside the template
I have included a tab within the spreadsheet with instructions on how to use this template. Here are my recommended steps to take to make this template drive revenue growth for your business.
- Familiarize yourself with each item in the checklist
- Duplicate the template tab into a new spreadsheet
- Customize the checklist with your company name
- Modify the steps to complete in column 1 based on your business
- Share with your team for feedback
- Finalize the checklist, assign responsibility and update statuses
Slowing down to develop a good plan will produce outstanding results for you. Focus on the high level checklist of what needs to get done, then start checking them off one by one in order of priority.
How to use this template
When I first started as a VP of Marketing, I tried many different initiatives without necessarily having a strategic plan of how all of the pieces fit together. Regretfully, we spent money on marketing campaigns that never had a chance of producing results.
My hope is that this template gives you visibility into all of the nuances of going to market with a software product.
