Peppino Fumagalli, Italian entrepreneur, founder of Candy Group, passed away yesterday at 86 years. He invented in 1946 the first Italian washing machine with his father Eden and his brothers Niso and Enzo. We remember him with the words that he used to say in the company: “the task of a company is to work seriously, to create intelligent products and sell them at a fair price”. He was a tireless innovator: his commitment towards the job and the company led him to be always present even in recent years. Now the company is managed by his children Beppe (CEO of Candy Group) and Aldo (Director Business Sector Washing Appliances and President of Candy SpA), along with the cousins ​​Silvano and Maurizio (board of directors). The same Peppino in 1994 has described the generational change with these words: “I handed over the keys of the company to my two children and three nephews, Niso’s sons. I said: Now, you go ahead. Just as my father did with us in 1970. Only when I did this, I understood the great act of generosity that my father did for us”.
Among the most significant steps of his career, Peppino Fumagalli has developed – together with his brothers – a strategy of commercial expansion and internationalization of the Candy Group. He was directly involved in the administrative activity and management of the Group, leaving to his brother Niso the development of the technologies and products, while Enzo managed the commercial activity. The expansion strategy has been translated by Peppino and its brothers in various acquisitions in order to gain market share and expand the Group in new sectors. Hoover, Rosières, Zerowatt and Iberna are some of the most important acquisitions.
