LYLE TALBOT
The actor is shown from the chest up in this black and white photograph.
Photograph signed: "Lyle Talbot" in blue ink, B/w 8x10. Some actors would wince at some of the jobs that Lyle Talbot (1902-1996, born Lisle Henderson in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) took later in his career, but you have to give him credit for this, at least: he kept busy. Talbot piled up a phonebook-sized resume with 300 movies and TV shows between 1932 and 1987, which included roles as Commissioner Gordon in Batman and Robin (1949) and Lex Luthor in Atom Man vs. Superman (1950), both serials. He also had the dubious honor of appearing in not one but two movies by schlock director Ed Wood, Jr.: Glen or Glenda (1953) and the legendary Plan 9 From Outer Space (1956). Talbot had roles in more reputable movies, too. His good looks earned him co-star duties with Ginger Rogers in a number of mysteries in the 1930s (The Thirteenth Guest, 1932; A Shriek in the Night, 1933). As he got older, he became one of Hollywood's busiest villains. Talbot was busy on TV, too, including a recurring role as Joe Randolph on The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet (1956-1966). Talbot was also one of 24 actors to organize the Screen Actors Guild in 1935. Slightly worn at corners. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso (no show though). Otherwise, fine condition.
